----------5. Confirmed features----------

  • Fully modeled tanks: tanks in HoS are completely modeled internally and externally, inch by inch, with an accurate recreation of the real tanks. We will be able to use the internal instrumentation/equipment, hatches, viewports and everything else.
  • Full crew: in HoS the tanks will have a full realistic crew, and every position can be filled by human players, except the loader role. Every position that is not filled by humans will be filled by AI. It will be possible to switch instantly from one role to another one if the crew is alive. When someone dies, and you want to switch to his position, you must switch to the empty position with another crewman, but this will take some seconds.
  • Tank locking: tank commanders can choose to lock their tanks or allow other players to join their crew. No more "get out from the tank plz".
  • Dynamic tank class system: multi-crew now will be managed by players: there will be one "tank commander" class slot for each player; as the commanders choose to allow human players in their tanks, "tank crew" class slots will dynamically open up. This means that players don't have to make a choice between having more tanks with solo tanking or fewer with team tanking.
  • Realistic tank damage system: HoS will have a complex and detailed damage system for vehicles. Everything in the tanks can be damaged, as the engine, the optics, the transmission, the periscopes, the turret rotation mechanism, the fuel tank, the ammunitions, the drive sprocket, the treads, the tracks and everything else (still waiting confirmation about the possibility to hit the gun and then impede to fire with it). Also the crewmembers can be killed by a penetrating projectiles, from AT guns and even from AT rifles. Different type of explosions will be modeled depending on what was shot and on what will happen afterwards.

-----6. Community discussions/suggestions-----

---------------7. Developers' threads---------------

---------------8. Notes---------------

  • The 1.0 version of the game will include only the T-34/76 and Panzer IV G. The other four vehicles will be included in a successive free DLC.
  • The Panzer IV G will be the early model with 75mm L/43 gun and 50mm front-hull armor (Sd.Kfz 161/1), not the late model with 75mm L/48 gun and 50+30mm front-hull armor (Sd.Kfz 161/2)
  • The Panzer III J will be the early model with 50mm L/42 gun (Sd.Kfz 141), not the late model with 50mm L/60 (Sd.Kfz 141/1).

IMPORTANT!: if you find any error or incorrect info, or if the pictures are not visible, or if the videos are not visible, or for every type of problem then please LET ME KNOW IMMEDIATELY. T(h)anks.

Special thanks to: TWI, The Fact Thread, Best and Worst of suggestions thread and everyone of the community who gives his contribution on the forum.

It's a fine idea, but you'll still get people opening new threads on the said topic.

Uhm.....you're right....maybe i can list all the suggestions to prevent "double-suggestions" and list the confirmed features...

EDIT: OP backup lol

Quote:
I have seen that there are many discussions about tanks in the forum, so i thought "why not opening a dedicated thread?"

In this thread we can ask info about vehicles, and/or we can post some new suggestions, instead of opening lot of threads about the same argument.

If you like this idea, then i will create a decent OP, if you dislike and prefer divided singular threads then i wont waste time for the creation of OP. As you want guys

So this would be a mix of the facts thread and the suggestion thread, but for vehicles? Why not! the more the merrier, up to a point... but we haven't yet reached that point, so green light.

I wholeheartedly agree - not that my opinion matters. I'd like a compiled list of info on tanks for reference.

I have not heard anything about the transport vehicles in HOS, the half-track, for example if they know you will be there?

I think Panzer III J will be the version with L/42 (but i hope to see even the L/60 version in the future, why not?) and the Panzer IV G will be the early version with 50mm standard armor.

Seems like a semi reasonable way to gimp the Panzer III to near the T70's level

Yes, i think that this is the reason. The tanks seem really equilibrated at the moment: Germans tanks have better firepower, better equipment/instrumentation and better crew, Soviets tanks have better speed/mobility and better armor, so, there isn't a specific tank that outclasses the others actually.

Will there be a Panzer IV F1 to support our infantry in Stalingrad?

It seems the Germans are always gimped in equipment in these type of games. Seriously, why not a J1 with an L/60? Is this Heros of Operation Barbarossa or Stalingrad? Even if gimping by L/42 was the idea the L/42 should still be able to pierce the T-70's 35 mm nose and glacis at ~1,000 meters and ~200 meters respectively whereas the T-70's 45 mm weapon would be worthless at +75 meters against the Panzer III's 50 mm front armor.

EDIT: skip this post

There was a post, somewhere, by one of the devs (I think Wilsonam) which stated which ammunition type was available for the tanks...
IIRC it was AP and HE for the soviets, and AP, HE and HEAT for the germans... but then again, maybe it's just a by-product of my imagination.

I'll update my post if I manage to find said post.

No APBC for soviets and APCBC for Germans? No nebel rounds? And what of HEAT? Do I sense a Panzer IV F1 in the works?

The post that mentioned all the rounds was not a comment on the game, it was based on what rounds were available at the time.
Though, APBC and HE rounds are pretty much confirmed for the Russian tanks, and APCBC and HE for the Germans.

Ok, I was wrong the other day
You we're right bluey, +1.
Here's the quote I was referring to (I found it, yay!):

(source: http://forums.tripwireinteractive.co...64&postcount=4)

That sums it.

Thank you all for the positive feedbacks and for the help

Everyone can help in the OP creation by posting infos

@ Tank!: no, actually noone (of TWI) mentioned the Panzer IV F1

EDIT: anyone wants to create an image for the OP? I'm not able to use photoshop

EDIT 2 @ Tank!: i think that even Panzers IV equipped with long 75mm gun used some HEAT projectiles. Anyway, i suppose that the projectiles mentioned by Wilsonam are referred to 75mm and 76.2mm guns, right? Or is already started the development for DLC-tanks' shells?

IIRC only the short version of the 75mm fired Gr. 38 Hl/x (Hohlladung - hollow charge). With the long 75 not needing it for anything.

Yeah, he was speaking about the 76.2mm and the 75mm KwK40.
The Pzgr. Patr. 39 APCBC (same name for the 50mm and 75mm round)
Sprgr.Patr.34 HE (same name for the 50mm and 75mm round)
and the BR-350 APBC (F34 76.2mm)
F-534 or OF-350 HE/HE-frag ? (F34 76.2mm)
BR-240 SP APBC (45mm model 38)
O-240 HE-frag? (45mm model 38)

I doubt we will see the Pzgr. Patr. 40 (APCR) and the BR-350P (APCR) Because they were rare, especially in the case of the BR350P

I doubt we see any APCBC or APBC outside the 75 or the 76.2 unless its modded in.
