Default The Brute :: Final Release

Ok m8's here we go. No more Beta, its time for the real deal.

The Brute Version 1.4

INSTALL :
Copy all the folders to your "killingfloor" folder. Windows XP = Unzip all the folders on your desktop for instance and manually drag each file from all the folders into the folders in your killingfloor folder (common/killingfloor)
If you have any problems please report these at www.wolfpackclan.com or in this thread.

Brute Description

Blocking
- Whenever there is a target he will block when not doing anything else.
- Any shots within the region of the head and the blocking arm cause 10% of their normal damage.
- When not raged he will attack while blocking. Each successful hit he makes increases a counter which decreases a chance that he will block when attacking, meaning he'll use the other two attack animations. This means as he's causing more chaos he'll become more vulnerable. Successful hits landed while charging also increases this counter.
- When his hand is blocking his head – he can still be shot from the side or back of the head at full damage.
- When attacking but not raging he will attack with his block up – after a few attacks he will perform a normal attack which doesnt block
- When performing the charging throw the brute uses an animation which exsposes his head

Charging
- His charging (rage) state is caused by receiving too much damage over a short period of time (50points in 2 secs).
- When first entering the charging state he gradually (over 1-2 secs) builds up speed.
- On all difficulties above beginner he is locked to the target he is attacking, similar to other specimens.
- Whoever causes him to rage will be his first target.
- After successfully hitting his target he will switch to another if they are close enough.
- After successfully hitting his target he will calm down some, slowing his movement speed. Enough hits will calm him down completely and he'll leave the charging state. He must make 2 hits when there are 3 players or less, or 3 hits when there are more.
- He damages any other specimens he charges into.
- Charging will also automatically be triggered after a random time (10-15 secs).

Throwing
- When he hits a player he will throw them in the direction determined by the angle between him and them, with a fixed Z velocity of 150. When not charging his throw strength is reduced by 15%. Additionally, a berserker gains another 25% throw resistance.
- When charging his throw affects all players in front of him. Slightly less if players are to the side of his front angle.

Weaknesses / Strengths
- Berserker gains 25% throw resistance
- He has a 25% melee damage reduction.
- 30% reduced HEAD resistance against fire (not body)
- 10% reduced HEAD resistance against anything else (not body)
- When set on fire it slows the brute by 15% of his active speed

Tactics to defeating the Brute
- Berserker and Sharpshooter are weakest against the brute – but when working together the berserker can turn the brute so the back of the brutes head is opened to the sharp shooter
- This is even easier when slowed by fire
- A balanced perk spread across an assembled team is also a good way to defeat him – to many sharp shooters will not be effective.
- The more members on a team increases the brutes health just as it would a Fleshpounder.- This ensures he has enough health to throw players around before he is killed

Intended Implementation
- To promote teamwork and perk balance in squads
- To promote slower/weaker zombies by throwing players into them
- To promote panic and margin for error
- To bring down barricades formed by players
- To encourage the medic gun/darts

Amazing Job! It surely adds more atmosphere into killing floor and requesting more teamwork from players.

I just hope this work will be considered, polished and added into kf with even more awesomeness

We are currently using this on our server.

Things to note;
- You don't need to include it in your command line for online servers.
- Enable it via web-admin and don't worry if it doesn't stay ticked it will still work.

Have fun, great work WolfPackClan. He's a beast!

were the sparkles ever added to his arms?

"Bloody Hell, what's he got on his arms?" would then work as an auto voicecommand for the Brute as well.

This...Seems familiar.

You wouldn't happen to know of Dead Frontier, would you?

This seems similiar to this: http://deadfrontier.wikia.com/wiki/B...bie_Population

Maybe it's just me.

It probably is.

But anyhoo, seems great, and I am indeed going to give this a try.

Nice work, 'chap.

Looks really interesting. Definitely hope it gets consideration for inclusion in the game in some form. We can all appreciate TWI continuing support for the game, and new balance tweaks and a more challenging difficulty will be great, but a new zed? Now that's the way to spice up the game.

Little feedback for you guys i was in server alot yesterday tried out lots of different tactics with him he works really well but could do with a bit more health hunting shotty makes him no threat at all.

I think support is most effective at taking him down but your server was running lv3 perks on normal difficulty i managed to solo the full 11 waves no problem at all.

I know some people have been moaning about him being to hard this is just not the case. yes he is a game changer but only for the sharpshooter and not much of a game changer for him really oh ye zerker is a bit of a struggle with him

So overall i think i need to try it on a harder difficulty or after the beta release but with his size he needs more health so i cant take him down instantly with a hunting shotty same health as a fp or scrate would be nice as his attack is stil weaker

Finally i will say very very nice work guys im happy for him to be added now but the above is just my personal opions and im sure wpc will see me in there server again

With one or two players he's quite easy to take down, as he's designed to be most effective against larger groups.

Yea, he's a piece of cake when you're playing solo or with 4 - 5. It's brilliant on our server however as there is 20+ people at most times and his HP increase due to that means he can take out players like a bowling ball if he's not stopped in his track, and fast!

definatley helps to have a hunting shotgun support class in your group in waves with the brute

again - when in 6 man teams - if you didnt have the right class balance - and had a lack of support classes/demos - this guy would cause more grief

youll prolly find that the brute is alot harder to kill as a SS or a berserker - so balancing your team perks is important - a team of sharpies will get knocked around

on the flip side a bersker and sharpie can work together to bring one down - bersker turns the brute so the brutes back is facing the sharpie - and the sharpie can shoot him in the back of the head.

yes i tried the netsky server last nite 20+ players and found all the big zeds had way to much health. Dono why it just reminded me of zombie mod on css was very fun but not as good as a 6 man suicidal with official maps so if you know of any suicidal 6 man servers running the brute i will like to give that a go as thats more what i play.
