Well, having a socialist government the last decades (with a few breaks) didn't help Greece that much. It is interesting to see how a government with so many left MPs will fare, especially since the troika is having a meeting with the new government later this week.


I wouldn't worry about Greece turning into North Korea though, I doubt even a fully left government would manage to stay uninfluenced(= uncorrupted) by the EU and the IMF. Not to mention that in 4 years or less there will be new elections where people will probably go back to "safer" and more cooperative parties, unless there is a drastic change for the best (which is highly unlikely since the meters proposed by left parties require a few bad years before getting back on their feet).

I'm pleased that that Sarkosy is out,
the guy just divided the population in every way possible, young old, black white, those with work, those without.
Maybe there is a little hope now for the youth.

We are all victims of the "monetary crisis" that does not give reason to divide the people in the way that his idea of French politics have done over the last few years.

The socialist victory has probably stopped another revolution, which the French are perfectly capable of, as history has shown.

Ooh, I sometime surprise myself, religion and politics are a no no, for me!

I'm interested to see what direction France will head in now, as Hollande seems to be a very different man than Sarkozy. The Euro dropped a little bit as a result of that and Greece. What is Hollande's position on Greek austerity measures?
