Default getting mouse controls?

I just downloaded the game from Steam. I opened it started a campaigne game, fell into the cave and could see obvious things in any other game I would use my mouse to click on and retrieve or interact with. The only thing my mouse does is pan around the cave. When I go to options there is nothing about using a mouse and I cannot believe it is all done on a keyboard using letters that don't even make sence. This 2010 not a primitive 1975 game. There has to be a way to pick things up and interact with in the game. Also I don't want to see the typed words when I can hear the voices. How do I turn that off? For a game that has such good reviews there has to be something easy to fix. Also is there any sort of game manual?

You cannot pick up items in the environment. Nothing strange about that, many thousands of games are like that.
You cannot hide the subtitles. There are not many spoken bits in the game so it is only a few times you will see these.

There is a manual in the game's install folder, in this case that is in your Steam folder.

I did fiddle around with the controls and got the mouse to work. I guess I am used to games where you touch everything or pick up stuff...like the Myst games..so this one is different. Thanks.

I looked all over my computer and was not able to find any sort of game manual under Steam or the Ball installation files or folders. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Found it. Thanks!
I have gotten through the first level. So far it is working and I am getting to enjoy it more although I wish the game resumed where I left off or died in the lava.

Well, if you read that manual, then you can see that in case you die, you start back at where you spawned before, but you don't have to solve the puzzles and kill the enemies you encountered on your previous try.

Default resume problem

I have noticed that when I exit the game...after all I do have to stop and make supper or sleep! That when I start again on either resume or the campaign I was on I end up having to battle the mummies again...., blow up whatever I had blown up before. This sure wastes a lot of time before I get to where I actually left off. I look for when it says saving game but that is not very often Am I missing something?
