towards the beginning/middle, where you have that giant room filled with water.

i move the ball and connect it to the thing so those gears turn and the room fills up. no idea what to do after.

after you get the gear moving and the room is full with water, look for a button in an area that can now be accessed thanks to higher water...

Hint, you might have to swim down to get there.
