Default KF New Specimen : The Brute (under construction)

Ok m8's here we go. No more Beta, its time for the real deal.

The Brute Version 1.1

INSTALL :
Copy all the folders to your "killingfloor" folder.
If you have any problems please report these at www.wolfpackclan.com or in this thread.

FEATURES:
>New Soundset
>New Animations
>New Gameplay Mechanics. Teamplay is required in surviving a wave with the Brute.
>He can block head shots
>He can be shot in the head when blocking from the back or sides
>Berserker Doesnt get thrown so much - so he can agro the brute and turn him around for a sharp shooter to shoot the brute in the back of the head
>His speed makes him a "In your face" character.
>His throw can disrupt a player "hold out" and potentially throw players into other zombies for more damage (or onto their own pipe bombs)
>Mutator affects normal waves
>Brute changes target when shot at

And no its not an impossible character to beat. He doesnt spawn like crazy anymore, and is very balanced. Give it a try!

it dosnt really got the killing floor style,he shouldn't look like a human!

just a quick texture, nothing fancy. It has 18,132 polys and 9,501 verts...is this too much?

To make this model look good, give it a pass over Zbrush and detail it as much as you can. then bake the results like AO maps and Shadow maps over your model.

Looking good.
I don't like that metal plate though.
It literally looks slapped on (hurr hurr hurr) and has no "function".

You could give him an over the top beaten up, deformed face because it's supposed to be a boxer and he could use something on his hands.
Perhaps they made him the sparring partner of fleshpounds so he looks really messed up.

If he punches real hard, he needs something on his arms/hands too.
I'd suggest mutant arms instead of some metal stuff.
You know, veins and bulges all over it.
Perhaps he can also be wearing stylized boxing gloves even though fleshpounds already kinda have that.
Perhaps his hands can just be clumps of barbed wire?

Fighters wrap bandages around their fists to avoid injuries.
This could be a version of it that kind of "misses the point".

I got no idea about the polycount range of specimen though.

maybe like in "Kickboxer" when tong po and van damme duke it out. They have their gloves smudged in glue and peices of glass pasted on? Only put them in the flesh?

btw, dont mind the texture hehe... its crap...Ive allready removed it lol.

Maybe when Im done, ill just post the thing here, and let the community do some stuff with it? Would be nice to see what happens with the model once we are finished haha.

Very nice model, but if it's not too late, I think he should have some FP-esque metal spikes stuck on him somewhere.

Hi Hemi, it's looking great and the concept is most fitting. I was just thinking about what we really need in a game character. We've got lots of close range beasts and the Siren and Husk for a little off close and distance. I wonder if this guy could be an all rounder with a mean up close attack and something extra for mid range as players have a real comfort zone around there. He's quite barrel chested and could have a gorilla type chest beating break which pops some of those breast plate rivets in the direction of players.

Some texture suggestion:
1)Hand: Maybe skin of his hand is a bit ripped off, or there is some metal plate on his arm.
2)Chest: Some bullet hole on his belly.
3)Face: Do not have a nose. ( Like all another specimen such as clot)
4)Skin: Make the skin less humanish, more white(Clot and stalker), red(Gorefast), brown(Bloat, siren, scrake, fleshpound and patriarch).
5)Leg: Don't know much.
6)Body: Maybe less fat and more muscle? Because I notice all these type strong and fast specimen are not fat but only slow specimen that puke like Bloat.

Animation suggestion:
1)Simple punch in face, uppercut that launch victim up high(realistically height), and punch in belly and Kick.
2)Give it a boxing stance when it is walking.(I bet you already doing it)
3)Enraged? I don't know will it can be enraged like scrake and fleshpound, if It is, It will cover its head with both of its arm like these Boxer defensing block when it is enraged.
4) Headless and burned, when one of it is done, it will hold its fist and start swing around and slowly walking toward its killer.

Just some suggestion that wish it can help to improve this specimen, I has been thinking another kind of specimen idea these day.

thanx for the help guys, I will take this with me.

Allright some technical questions now. I used a custom rig, designed for the creature. But I believe I need to use a rig that TWI made right? Can I just use the one in SDK? Cous thats for a hero model.

This guy will not kill, just throw u about messing up your group forcing u to move about and spend ammo

There will be chances for him to throw you into zed's based on your direction, and when you move around to avoid him or to head shot him in the back of the head that will form spaces for clots to walk into your groups barracade

His boxing stance will only allow you to get a clear head shot from the sides or back

Best way to get the brute to reveal the back of his head is to send a berserker to get his attention and to turn the brute around so his back is fcing the group, cool huh?

Thanks brain dead, been working with yomommasis on teamspeak and we found the issue you discuss, this is going to be awesome for all waiting for this additional creature

We need to start on animations soon, yommomasis is working on the shaders for the texture, ill be working on the balance and behaviour, hemi the animations and final skin mods and mesh tweaks, and I think braindead is also looking at the way of making a mutator to add him to exisiting waves

ok...my knowledge is only with 3ds max so bare with me lol.

After installing SDK I found in the KF folders 1 rigged model of a hero (think was a cop). Must I use that one, or is there a way to export rigs from the unreal editor...srry for my n00bish question but my experience with sdk is very little and I was told someone would help me put this specimen in sdk if I would take on all the animations in 3ds max.(which im happy to do)

Love it hemi, brilliant as always

would like to see it run around blind punching the air like a bull in a china shop, and if you fire your gun closest to him he hears you and becomes attracted to you and runs towards you like a mad man

it would also be nice for him to have some sort of combo, so that if he lands a 3 hit combo, the 3rd punch knocks you flying.

this could possibly knock you into other zombies, or knock you away from the saftey of your group - or on the 3rd punch he should throw you into the largest cluster of zeds

this would make the crossbow preffered weapon for taking him out as its almost silent

looks wise i would like to see him have an iron jaw, as boxers use the phrase "glass jaw" for people who get knocked out easily. He should also have some sort of gouged out eyes effect as he should look blind

would love him to look more like charles bronson (a british prisoner) know for fighting or lenny mclean, a famous underground british brawler

in essence, he would be like a bloat, but a fast scary version, as opposed to some slow moving headshot magnet

yes, he could perform flurrys exposing his head for shot periods

good idea!

his gloves could be metal to make them more of bullet shields
