Default KF "Incendiary" Content and "PostMortem" Character Packs released

We are happy to announce the release of the latest FREE content pack for Killing Floor, containing 4 maps, a new weapon for the Firebug - the MAC-10, firing incendiary bullets for the Firebug - plus a bunch of balance changes and exploit fixes. The free Incendiary Content Pack gives a big boost to the Firebug perk in the form of a brand new weapon – the MAC-10. This submachine gun not only packs a punch with a high rate of fire and .45 caliber rounds, but for the Firebug will also fire incendiary ammo that will make his enemies do the fire dance. With this the Firebug now has his own personal close-range weapon. Also included in the content pack are four new maps that were selected from the best maps entered in the Grindhouse map making competition. These maps have been given the “Tripwire Treatment” and have been polished up and made official. And to celebrate the release Tripwire will be offering a 50% discount on Killing Floor and the existing DLC character packs through Sunday 10th October 2010.

The “PostMortem” DLC Character Pack will bring you four new playable characters for the game. The DLC will be available to purchase over Steam or in-game, to anyone who already owns a copy of Killing Floor. And the characters are another assortment of the lucky survivors of the Horzine outbreak:
  • Harold Hunt: Harold was the front man for the underground punk band "The Fecking Nancies", who played mingin' pubs and bars all over South London. And if he wasn't screaming into a microphone about anarchy and chaos he was out causing it by kicking the ****e out of cockneys, chavs and pikies before stealing their bling. Courtesy of the Horzine outbreak, he's finding out what real anarchy and chaos is.
  • Kerry Fitzpatrick: After disfiguring one inmate in his last prison fight, the others stopped calling "Kerry" a girl's name. During his transfer to the high-security psych ward at Broadmoor, he watched the guards get eaten by a herd of crazed, emaciated mutants. Kerry took pleasure ripping apart the monsters before looting the dead prison guards. From life in prison to a free man in seconds, Kerry has found a world where he truly fits in.
  • Trooper Clive Jenkins: When he wasn't jumping out of airplanes and breaking heads for the British government, Jenks could usually be found getting rat-arsed in the pubs of Aldershot and picking fights with civvies. C Company was on standby when word of the outbreak struck. They loaded into the Herc and jumped over London. Straight into a mob of chainsaw-wielding nutters. Come and get some, ya ponces!
  • Paramedic Alfred Anderson: Working nightshift for the hospital can be interesting. It's also a good place to stock up on supplies when the whole city has turned into a cannibalistic feeding frenzy. Well equipped and knowledgeable, Alfred's a good ally to have when a fleshless creature is beating down your door.
And finally - a Special One-off Character: to celebrate the upcoming release of “The Ball”, we are releasing a new playable character for Killing Floor – the hero from The Ball – Harchier Spebbington himself. The character will be available exclusively to anyone who pre-purchases The Ball from Steam before the release on 26th October. Pre-orders for The Ball launch on 18th October 2010, so move quick because once pre-orders are finished no more of this exclusive character will be available.

What exactly are these "balance changes"? This is what most of us have been waiting quite a while for, but there's no changelog to be found anywhere.

Yeah a changelog would be nice.
Just so I don't start up the game and the Xbox now does 1 damage on bodyshots but 999999999999 damage to all the specimen on the map if you headshot a FP.

A required update is now rolling out over Steam. This update brings KF to
version 1014 and requires that all servers update before you will be able to
connect to them.

The changes include:
  • Four new maps - Hospital Horrors, Biohazard, Mountain Pass, and
    Suburbia
  • New money system - money now rewarded based on % of damage dealt rather
than who gets the final shot, no more kill poaching for money!
Balance changes:

Sharpshooter:
  • Raised price of the Crossbow
  • Reduce the number of magazines carried for the M14
  • Increased the weight of the M14 and Crossbow so both cannot be carried at once
Commando
  • Reduced the damage for the SCAR
Demolition
  • Moved the LAW to the Demolition perk
  • Increased the damage radius of the LAW
  • LAW gets perk bonuses for the Demolition perk
Bug and map exploit fixes
4 new DLC characters
Exclusive *The Ball* themed DLC character
Still waiting on achievements for last winter's community maps :l and a little surprised to see the SCAR damage nerfed but not the M14. The Ingram is not mentioned above, but it's definitely in game. Firebug 6 is currently spawning with flamethrower in addition to the armor and Ingram specified in the perk selection menu.

The MAC-10 has sickening recoil... highest of all weapons in the game I think. Haven't played other classes yet. Not to be a killjoy, but one new weapon and 4 "refined" maps (which were already available on the whitelist) is a little underwhelming for a "major update." Still, I bought the char DLC instantly, especially with the sale :-) .

MAC-10 on the '4' key? Why not '3' and have it different than the flamer? Now both weapons for flamer are on the same key.

BTW, already purchased the DLC. Thanks.

Bought DLC for 's sake!

Also, nice weapon, the MAC-10, is a bit hard to aim with is sights, but is compensated by its power.

Nice update , i love the ingram its pretty easy to score headshots if it's on semi and if you miss the headshot they light up . Already bought the Char pack plus 5 copys extra for some friends, like always(i even bought the game 5 times and gifted it to 5 buddies, but they rarely play kf :/) .

I can't wait for The Ball and Red Orchestra 2 (i will buy them as well).

I kinda think this DLC is some BS the M14 and SCAR were fine! the M14 just needed to weigh a little more if anything!
I do LIKE the Post Mortem CP though... WILL WORK FOR DLC's! lulz.

No-one's forcing you to buy it. You can still enjoy the full Kf experience without it.

Are you on acid or something? They were the most overpowered weapons in the game!

Hooray, finally!
Now there just needs to be a game with a ping below 400 so I can actually see them changes.

I see the LAW got changed. Is it useful now?
I couldn't kill a FP on hard, singleplayer with it.
Demo got more ammo with it but its weight remains the same which communicates an unchanged ammount of usefulness to me...

Don't throw the SCAR and the m14 into the same pot mkay?
Bleh, now people will go around tellin bullcrap how overpowered SCAR commandos used to be post-patch just like they are telling how OP zerkers used to be just cause the weapons got a nerf.

By the way, thank you very much for keeping the katana on semi-auto.
Haven't checked the saw yet.

Personally I thought the Scar was fine for it's small mag size, but the M14...we came up with a bunch of ideas for a more creative nerf then 'reduced mags'.

Also, no hand grenade, chainsaw, or Berserker buff, Sharpshooter nerf (except for price and weight), too small a fix for Law, and no Demo or Medic weapon make me .

At least the Mac10 sounds fun.

No kidding. Tripwire has been EXTREMELY generous giving away updates so everyone can play the current version with all of the new toys and not holding anyone hostage to purchase an update. Offering dirt cheap DLC packs to bring in money for a game they continually work on is more than fair.

Thanks for the update

The MAC-10 sounds like the AK to everyone but the shooter, fyi. It would be cool if it had that 'silenced' sound to everyone in game.

I already thought the Commando class was rather weak when compared to the Sharpshooter class, but now it's been made even weaker. Not sure why the SCAR was taken down in power.

The LAW is a light anti-armor weapon and I feel it's still a bit weak for what it is. Maybe bump the power of it, but only allow for a few reloads (3-5 total rockets maximum). If the crossbow can kill things in one hit, an anti-armor weapon should be able to as well.

Thanks again TWI

Edit - GO GIANTS!
