It was awesome.

2 changes of game mode i could think of that might work well.

a competitive army vs police match - where 2 teams of 3/4 compete each round to get the highest value of specimen kills.
The winning team gets a point per round and then you start afresh for the next - but of course a more succesfull team has more cash to spend with the trader.
There is no FF or collision between members of the 2 teams to prevent a DM or blocking, but you can pick up weapons dropped by anyone.
Limit 1 per class.

a survival mode also with 1 per class, max 7 plys - with continuous enemies spawning with varying intesity, but generally increasing in numbers and ferocity.
no trader but ammo/weapons are dropped at random positions on the map, with a indication.
The zeds are also attracted to the weapons cashes and 'attack' them depleting the ammo and wrecking the weapons over time - so you have to move to them to protect them and select gear/ammo from them.
No respite means organising guns/ammo for everyone from crates is as much a challange as staying healthy.

not like me to post stuff that has no chance of being realised but i don't know i just came over in a suggestion mood.

A coop campaign which would scale the enemies, obstacles, and objectives to fit the size of the team (# of players) would be pretty cool.

Players vs. Specimens vs. Players could also be a good basis for a game mode. Opposing factions fighting to survive, and all that.

The general concepts are simple, but the implementation would require loads of development time and effort. Of course, it's too late for any of that in KF, especially with the first hints of a KF2 coming about.
