Default Complete Noob looking for Advice

I bought this game on steam about 3 days ago and have played online a few times and i absolutely SUCK!
I get killed about a million times evey game and 9 times out of 10 i never even see the person who killed me.
Rather than thinking i'm rubbish at this and never playing it again, wasting £7, i thought i would ask for some advice on how to get better!

any tips or tactics or anything that would improve overall enjoyment would be vastly appreciated!

Thanks

remember this isnt counterstrike, you die from one shot. dont run out like an idiot. think like the enemy, look at the area around you and try to figure where they are. try to go to practice mode and train on long distance rifle shots.
remember that for the smgs and mgs, short bursts work far better then a long burst.
and last, practice makes perfect, we all sucked once..

Well firstly I would recommend you check out the tutorial videos that tripwire put together.

Secondly the default settings that RO gives you when you install it are rubbish. Turn your resolution up as high as you can otherwise your not going to see anything. Then you will want to turn off dynamic net speed, mouse acceleration and mouse smoothing.

Thirdly RO not about lightning reflexes and being able to head shot someone faster than they can head shot you. You have to out think the enemy. It's all about moving tactically from cover to cover to a place where you can murder them before they know you are there. Plan your moves, and don't leave your cover until you have decided on the next piece of cover your heading for. Allways sprint between cover and never go in a predictable line.

And finally, RO unlike a lot of FPS that claim to require team play to succeed, RO actually does. As a beginner you can't go badly wrong if you stick to one of your team mates like glue and make sure no one is sneaking up behind them as they push forwards.

Hope you manage to push past the steep learning curve and come to love the game as much as the rest of us. See you in game.

Aren't the RO tutorials still available as a Steam Download extra?

Yes, if you go to the RO Steam store page and click on "Watch all 6 trailers" they're the 3rd and 4th ones across, and you can click to download them.
