Default Weapon Melee Concept [Beta]

Update:
It appears that this idea had gotten enough attention that even TW seemed to of considered it.



This concept is broken down into two major concepts:

CONCEPT ONE - MELEE WEAPON
The weapon melee will be considered a weapon of its own under the melee weapon selection, either available at all times or only when the player runs out of ammo in that weapon

Variation One - Always able to use as melee weapon

Variation Two - Only when out of ammo is it a melee weapon

CONCEPT TWO - QUICK MELEE
To have a quick melee attack where (while holding the weapon) your character will perform a fast melee attack without changing weapons
(Currently this replaces the flashlight on the 9mm/Shotgun)

(I was also thinking of making a variation of the tactical knife 9mm by replacing the knife with a flashlight and the flashlight 9mm with the nonflashlight 9mm)


The stats are (but not limited to):
Knife - 0.6 attack speed - 20 dmg
Pistol whip - 0.9 attack speed - 40 dmg
Quick Pistol whip - 0.7 attack speed - 40 dmg
Tactical Knife - 0.6 - 40 dmg
Machete - 1.1 attack speed - 45 dmg
Axe - 1.1 attack speed - 125 dmg
Shotgun Swing - 1.2 attack speed - 50 dmg
Quick Shotgun Swing - 1.4 attack speed - 50 dmg
Quick LAW Swing - 1.4 - 150
(Joke) Quick LAIDLAW Swing - 1.4 - 90000
(Default melee weapons shown as reference)


I have also included the needed (UPDATED 6\10 12:00AM) files to play this, Like it or hate it please leave some feed back i would love to hear what the community thinks

Change Log:
V1.1
Removed head decap from all custom melee weapons excluding the TacKnife
Fixed improper shading on TacKnife
Added LAW melee
Fixed Melee damage not matching up with animations

i actually had this idea for making Brass Knuckles for hand to hand combat seeing as how we always use just tools, why not beat their faces in with your own bare hands?

At first I was like "someone's already doing something like this"

but then I was like "oh, he's doing both, awesome!"

I also like it when you smack his head right off with the shotgun.

i think you should just make some new weapons.

like, i think a claymore would be nice

it would be like 5 attack speed with like over 9000 damage.

I really like this idea, it's a bit gadget but everyone know that useless things = must have .

And i think that it suit with the story, they fight a lots of specs with everything they have, it's a bit desesparate to kill them with the cross, like it.
Keep on the good work ! I want to see what happen when you melee with flamethrower =D.

But, dont make something like L4D, you should add an animation seeing the main position to melee position and it should take some times (something like 1 second), that way, it will not be unrealistic like L4D.

Yeah, i think that the gameplay desperately needs a melee attacks, whatever the weapon. It's stupid to be in close combat situation and have to fire ou even worse, to reload although a good swing in their face can stun them good.

Wowowowowo O_O.
Man, i'm totally fond of your concepts.
For the first concep, i think the second variation is better.
And we can hit them anytime with your second concept.
Even if i think the shotgun should be used more directly, more quickly.

About the tactical knife, i think there is a very good idea about it. But i think it could be used only by certain perks which couldn't be able to use double 9mm. In this cas, it would be berserker or commando (or maybe field medic too). Other wouldn't but could use the double 9mm.
Or maybe we could switch between the use of a double 9 mm and the use of your tactical knife.

Well, whatever, it's good job you have made and i hope the developpers will take a look at it and include it directly into the game.
It would allow it to be more dynamic, and less frustating (because i hate to be so vulnerable at close combat while being enclosed by clots).

Enough said.

Well, not yet, anyway. How exactly will the Tac-knife be implemented? I think it'd be great for berzerker. He'd be taking out pesky crawlers with his 9mm while getting melee damage stabbing other monsters!

Can't wait to see this finished.

Concept 2 + trying to shoot with an empty gun should make it melee too.

Also don't make the animations so painstakingly long.
You should go for more of a (dare I say it?) l4d-like approach where the attack is quick.
Basically the same speed as the knife and also always the same damage as it.

Except for the LAW.
That thing should be a freaking warhammer so you can at least club scrakes to death with it.
In fact, even if you won't make it for every gun, at least make the LAW non-ironsighted-melee so it's less useless.

Not so quick, L4D was insanely unrealistic with his melee that push 5 zombies at same time and keeping that rate for 3-4 hit .

So, 2 choice, a quick melee but with long reload or something less quicker but with the abilities to use it constantly .

And about weapon's melee, would it stun the scrakes ?
