Perhaps on certain maps, on the initial spawnpoint (which is always much further up), the Japanese are equipped with only swords, and they all die on the opening charge (or not? Glory ensues). Silly idea I know, but I think it'd be fun.

The shin-guntou was machine-stamped, not smithed by hand and folded a bazillion times under the light of a full moon. Some officers brought their own swords though, family heirlooms and such, and US/Commonwealth forces captured a wide variety - some practical, some ridiculous.

Although it's keen to say a parry with a Garand would shatter the blade, there are plenty of stories of men losing limbs against them. Like Lt. George Cairns VC.

The Garand probably wouldn't be looking too healthy either...

It's not a hatchet. The solid wood would do a good number of it.

After the 'Banzai' charge proved to be too costly during the early war, post-Guadalcanal a MASS charge was only used after the Battle was completely lost, where the remainder of the Garrison would charge in great numbers as a sort of suicide-by-marine, like at the Aleuts, Saipan, Iwo Jima, etc.

It has been suggested numerous times before that after the Japanese reinforcements are depleted that they are all re spawned with no ammunition and must rely on a charge.

Makes more since. So what you said, except at the end of the match, not the beginnning.
