All inclusive add free package version of RO:HoS

Now I don't know if RO:HoS will get inmenu, readyup, or ingame advertisements or whether it will get DLC down the road.

But if it will, i would prefer to have an option to basically pay some additional money at the initial purchase, and get no advertisements and do not need to pay for additional DLC in the future.

I personally just hate to put additional money down the road for a game, to be able to continue to get the full experience due to Expansions and DLC (even if DLC and Advertisements don't interfere with actual game play). I wouldn't mind paying extra for a special edition that would include all payable DLC yet to come and would make the game advertisement free.

------------------------------

So basically would it be possible to offer perhaps different versions of the game. For those that absolutely hate adds or hate to pay more down the road, yet still want to get the complete and full package and are willing to pay the premium.

Killing floor allows you to buy additional characters as Paid DLC for a very cheap price.
And to be able to finance the development on a huge KF content update, advertisement videos were added at the ready up screen before the match.

Its nothing too bad, people paying for the dlc do not have any advantage over those that don't. And during actual game play there are no advertisements or whatsoever.

But there are simply people like me that would be willing to pay for a fully add free version. And I'd be willing to pay a premium with my initial purchase to basically pre-purchase all future DLC. So I won't have to pay for it when they come out.

movie clips mainly, from movies that are coming out...like tiny short little previews. And footage of RO. They're not selling Crisco or Marmite.

movies? What kind of movies? Like Hollywood movies? I understand RO footage... I'm against in game advertising, but with Tripwire I've got a bit of a softspot, because with them I'm sure more revenue will = better development of the HOS! :)

P.S Glad they're not selling Marmite... that **** is... well, ****... Vegemite all the way!

+1 and i'd like to add some more.

If there will be DLC, make new maps as FREE update. Same as you did in KF and it works fine. If maps would cost some $$$, that create situation where community split into two.

I totally agree with DLC as new skins of soldiers, weapons or tank camos.

ps. Mr Milkman get KF NOW! Its damn cheap and awesome ;)

I've only seen KF DLC advertisement and RO so far, I don't know what movies you are talking about

i coulda sworn i saw a preview for District 9 one time in Killing Floor. maybe i'm wrong...but that's what I thought I saw.

anyway, as other posters have said, the adverts are only on the loading screen, and are mainly footage of RO, and there's nothing in the game that looks like a Pepsi or Nike ad or any bs like that.

you are correct, District 9 was the first, and there was also one more i think for that travolta cop movie (don't remember the name but it was a TERRIBLE movie :p). those were the only two i remember seeing, alongside the KF DLC and ROOST ads. i think the thing that bugged people, like myself for example, is that the ads started with KF and RO (TW products) and then movie ads crept in. i see from a business standpoint it's good for TW to get some money out of it, but i have to think that there some better alternatives than "whoring" yourself out essentially with what are google ads, in your video game......if they were only promoting TW product, i'd have no issues whatsoever. of course then TW doesn't make money, but if you think about it, they use one of their products to promote their other products, that's still good marketing and should turn some more profits while not making any customers mad over the ads.

i think there main issue with the ads in general from KF that most people would want to see "fixed" or improved in HOS, should the same ads system be implimented. would be the performance issues they caused. even though it's "supposedly" been improved, i still am convinced that the video loads are causing minimal performance issues, especially when loading a map or sometimes the video doesn't finish loading before you ready up and the first couple minutes of the map are really laggy. granted it's not as bad as it originally was, but it's still pretty obvious at times. to test, i've tried playing KF in offline mode with no internet connection and magically the videos could never load and i never experienced any performance issues whatsoever.

so i guess i would support an ads feature like KF has, so long as it doesnt cause performance issues and only promotes TW products. again, if the contract requires TW to run ads for other stuff, like it is with KF, in order to make some money through an affiliate program, i'd rather pay a small fee to just not see them at all.

i take the same approach i do with the websites i run, i could post up some google ads, but i choose not to simply because i think they look ugly and most ads are completely out of place, i.e. a viagra add on a gaming clan website.....that's just my preference.

Personally I doubt that the videos had anything to do with any performance issues. The update that had the videos had a lot more things that would more likely cause that issue.

Sadly so far nobody is responding to my original post :(, and talking about the KF advertisement system.

What I personally wanted to suggest is that a user can buy a version of RO:HOS on steam that will simply be 100% add free, next to the normal version of ROHOS if that one will have adds. (or allow users to buy an add removal dlc)

And allowing users to get a special edition version that will give you all the future dlc for free.

topic: KF ads, will HOS have simliar ones, what to do if it does?
responses: all have to do with that general topic.

maybe for the specific idea of DLC nobody responded yet so.......sure that would be awesome to lump in a small fee to include all future DLC and maybe expansions. i'd pay for it.

oh, and the performance issues, all i know is that when they updated after the "ads update" saying "fixed performance issues", i had tested before that last update going in offline solo compared to online solo. with videos able to load in online solo, the game was much slower. when in offline solo and videos couldn't load, just as fast is it was before the ads were implimented. idk how to check logs and little techy stuff, just saying that's why happened. but whatever right? if there are adds in HOS, depending on how annoying they are, i'd be up for paying to not be bugged.

Please read the first post again as I've never stated that. I said If Rohos would get adds like killing floor, whether we could pay additional money to remove all the adds. That was the suggestion. Not whether or not adds will get included, or what adds and DLC would be OK to include into the game.

The second suggestion was the ability to pay for an all inclusive version, so one would not have to purchase the additional DLC down the road, but could get everything in an initial package (which would include the add removal DLC if that would be there).

I personally just don't see the connection, that if TWI said they fixed performance issues, and then because its not fixed it must be the videos. It can still be anything changed in the update that caused the issue, which wasn't only adds. Especially as the adds do not load until you are actually in the lobby. Anyway lets not get into this discussion.
