Default Custom map spawning problem

I think this is the right forum to be posting it in, I'm not sure. Anyway, this is my problem: I followed a tutorial on YouTube about creating your first map for Killing Floor. I followed the guy's tutorial exactly, but when I click "Build All" and then "Play Level", Killing Floor starts up fine, but as soon as I click "Ready", it says "Your squad has been wiped out". I also created a player spawn point. What do I do to solve this problem?

you should try to make a post in the mapping section of this forum. I cannot really help you with mapping stuff. In the mapping section all the mappers live and breathe, and they are most likely able to help you with your issues.

The above link would be the best place to post anything related to map making.

Do you have 6 "player start points"?
Do you have any zombievolumes?
are they spawning inside a room?
do you have any pathnodes?
do you have any random weapon and random item spawns?

just a little list that might help us figure out what you've done so far.

Why would I need 6 player start points? I'm not planning on using it in multiplayer, just singleplayer, so 1 should be enough. Yes, I have a ZombieVolume, they are spawning inside a room, I have path nodes and random weapon an item spawns.

I would not run killing floor from the editor. Instead open killing floor and press the ` key. This opens your console, then type "map yourmap". Oh and by the way, whenever AVP2501 gives you a suggestion DO IT. j/k . Really though he is a very talented designer, he knows a lot of how the editor works.

Default Custom map spawning problem

OK, this might help you guys with giving me a solution/fix a lot. The map works fine on my Dad's laptop which is Windows XP Home Edition 32-bit while it has the 'squad wiped out' problem on my laptop which is Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit. Oh, and I have the legit Steam version .

I don't know why it would work on one OS but not another. An unrealed youtube video won't tell you how to make a map compatible with KF. I heard that you have to have at least one ammo spawn before a level will work. Obviously you also need at least one zombie spawn volume. And for it to be playable beyond 1 wave you want a trader setup. If you don't know how to do one more of those things, check out Tripwire's guide. They put it in an .rtf file in your installation directory or you can search the web for it. "killing floor mapping guide"

To just run around in your map you need nothing but a playerstart and enough room around it so you can spawn. Make sure you Rebuild Geometry before you test it to make sure the room you made for your player actually exists. Maybe Rebuild the paths too so if there is a problem with the playerstart (e.g. too close to walls or the floor) you get an error message and you can fix it.

If it works on your dad's laptop it must work on your pc too. If it doesn't it's not a problem with the map but a problem with your game.

Can you upload the map so we can take a look? If you don't want to share it can you at least send me a copy. I promise not to show it to anybody.
