At first I want to tell that next words will be more than crazy, but take a little look.
Kill text: If you kill enemy you can check corner of screen, where you can see: your name / kill method / name of killed player. But what happens if you remove it from screen? You shoot your enemy and you dont see it, you cant read it from that precious corner. Is it crazy? Lets make some suggestions. 1. you shoot more bullets, because you dont see kill text, you are not sure that your target is realy dead or badly wounded. Especial long ranges if soldier crouch sometimes it looks like he is busted only kill text show you that soldier is still alive. 2. you dont see progress of your team, you dont know if Jack is still defending the doors because you dont see kill text. Yes you have voice but players dont use it often. Well there is lot of ways how to explain it. But I think that removing of kill text will change game, i mean big change. I never see that in other multiplayers. Maybe this is solution for best looking realism of multiplayer battlefield. Think about it and tell me your view. It's already LIVE on DH dude. It's a mutator who "deletes" all that kill text information on your screen. And, tbh, I LOVE THAT WAY TO PLAY. Shooting at some far soldier silhouette and being unable to verify if you fired/hit it well via the kill text is surely awesome in the way to make the game more realistic.

![]() that was in RO since the earliest mod versions, hardly a DH feature. Simply a server option from stock RO |

I liked the patch a while back where the death message text was white for the kills you made . . .
Also, OP, you would really enjoy realism matches. I think some are allive if you would like to try out no messages and uber realism.

I dont mind deathmessages if they are delayed a little so they cannot be used as immediate check wether someone still lives like a 15 second delay even is enough.
There needs to be a delay for the scoreboard however as otherwise you can check the scoreboard to see if you got a +1 for hitting or not. And its only annoying, even for myself as i will just continue hitting f1. So a slight delay in the scoreboard scores showing or ability to show only at the end of the round is kinda critical.

Yeah. On Servers where these deathmessages will be desabled, it could be fun to see ur scoreboard only at the end of the map, or when u decide to leave the server. MOAR REALISTIC LESS GAY !

I like games lacking the kill messages, but it should remain as a server option.
In DH I had to explain to some guy no less than six times that the lack of death messages on a server was not a realism mod but rather a server option.

Have to agree with the general consensus here. Having to manually confirm kills is significantly better from both a realism and gameplay point of view in my opinion, as its much more involved and allows long-distance fire-fights to last longer due to the relative uncertainly on both sides.
This is one of a couple of decisions that ultimately made me stop playing the old RO: OST (along with smgs being easier to control in free-aim than sighted and first-person sights not matching the actual ballistic arc of the weapon). |

A this has been done before
B despite this being a relaistic game there is a border between fun and TOO realistic. that said eve nif u dont agree wit that my point is i stil lwant to see if i got the kill i was hoping for otherwise it becomes a huge pain in the ***. i hate when games dont tell you. |

I'd like to vote for turning off death messages, but make it as server option.
Default option = OFF (no death messages). and well, TWI already has thought to satiesfied stats maniacs Quote:

My vote goes to delay the kill messages and scoreboard, and let users decide if they want to show them. If the kill messages are delayed (even as low as 10 seconds is enough).
You still must verify for that time if is someone is truly dead and 10 secs is plenty for someone to shoot back. While its not that much that people cant see if someone went on a killingspree etc. So you can comment on someone during a public game. Although i prefer no deathmessages over deathmessages, if no deathmessages becomes an option like it always was the scoreboard must be delayed or only popup when you're dead or at a rounds end (otherwise people can see the +1).

Indeed - just delay the scoreboard til the end of the round or only have kills update on wave-spawn or something similar.
Alturnatively, you could have a player's score only update on death/respawn or round-end. |
