Some of us got some FPS problems so we are having to resort to a wee bit of tweaking. I'll try to list the few tweaks we have found so far besides the obvious of lowering the graphic details.
To check your FPS, go into the console (not sure about the binding on foreign keyboards) and type stat fps. Set precaching to false (A bit technical) Precaching means loading the data to the memory from the start of the game. This is supposed to help with stuttering in-game, as it won't load textures and models on the fly. But setting it to false has been known to increase FPS slightly. Go to your Steam folder and go into \SteamApps\your@mail\Red Orchestra\system and find redorchestra.ini. Open it with a text editor like notepad. Press CTRL + F or go into Edit -> Find and type in UsePre and press Find next. It will find something that says UsePrecaching=True. Change "True" to "False" without quotations then press find next again. Do this till you are at the end of the text file, save it and close it. There has been reported quite a significant improve in FPS after doing this. Increase cache size (Technical, stolen from Gabriel6's thread in this forum) Quote:
Untick Reduce Mouse Lag Go into configuration and go in under the menu "Input" at the top. Then untick Reduce Mouse Lag. This feature is known to take up a lot of CPU and do absolutely nothing to the average user. If you, however, got problems with your mouse moving in odd ways, tick it back on. Change rendering option from DirectX 9 to DirectX In under configuration, click display. The first drop down box should say DirectX 9. Change this to DirectX at the expense of some prettiness that is only available to the DirectX 9 rendering thing, though I myself haven't seen any difference. It is most likely to affect shading though. Audio settings Go into the Audio pane and change the audio settings to hardware, if you got a physical soundcard that isn't onboard. This will take some of the load off the CPU. Also, press "Low sound details" to further your journey on FPS. I would honestly not do this, as the audio is almost one of the most important things in this game. FPS guides www.tweakguides.com - Look for Unreal Tournament 2004. As it is based on the same engine, most of the tweaks will help in Red Orchestras as well. (Thanks Snake byte..) ------------------ Please PM me or post in this thread if you got more tweaks that should be added to the list. Last edited by trillex; 03-16-2006 at 05:18 AM. |

I have DX9 turned on but HDR bloom turned off. This is supposed to increase FPS, but tbh I think I'm still getting an FPS hit with DX9 on. Need to test further. |

But it had to be added for compatibility issues. DX9 is awesome for the immersion but can be a FPS hit on slower rigs. :-)

Should I untick reduce mouse lag? I mean, on CS whenever there is an enemy nearby my mouse locks up and I can't move it for about a second or two, is that lag or a problem with my copy of CS?
