New Version as of March 1st 2010!
Pack contains only most current releases (unless a remix or radically different version appeared.) Don't ask about them being whitelisted. Because these are the most up-to-date versions available, some are whitelisted and some aren't. However, if someone would like to make a whitelist only maplist to filter them out, I would gladly post it up here. Beware, when decompressed, these packs need close to 8 Gigabytes of storage space(I don't mess around.) Also, all music has been included(something you can't get from a redirect on a server.) So you might be missing out and not even realize it! Currently, all updates are compressed nicely into .7z files. http://7-zip.org is a must. Another warning, because if the insane compression used, they may take a while to open! January 2010(Part 1) http://www.gameupdates.org/details.php?id=3965 (Torrent)
Spoiler!
March 2010 (Part 2) http://www.gameupdates.org/details.php?id=4019 (Torrent)

Sure why not. I have some spare bandwidth and space I'm not doing anything with.
PM me with the bullet point details and I'll provide an FTP account to see what this thing can do. |

There may be a couple of versions of KF-Arcade-Gas-Station-vx flying around as the textures needed to be changed. Copyright issues no doubt. Have to check on the naming for those 2 builds.

Just saw the change after i had already uploaded the archive, it seems like the maps never stop updating!
I really wish there was a standard naming scheme or other uniform way of releasing maps. I understand that tripwire can not accomplish it, but the community could create a piece of software that updates from a map repository automatically - I don't think there would be any harm in that. For instance, when a map is updated, it is pushed to a server (or series of servers) so that people with the client can check for updates...... Also, a "subscription" option could be added, only download and update maps you wish to have.... If anyone would be willing to help me write it, I'd be happy to help. Edit: Something akin to Dropbox: https://www.getdropbox.com/screencast Last edited by anthracy; 08-01-2009 at 12:12 PM. |

perhaps I could write a self install program for groups of maps, to make it easier. Give me a bit, i will work on it.

i think killing floor mods.com was trying to make a central place for all the maps but that really didn't happen. especially since it takes forever for the new map to get put on.

If we could get the map makers to create ONE version of their map and update it instead of countless betaV4-V1FINAL - EX - PERF - EXTENDED -ULTIMATE FINAL -TODO-6 affairs, things in the community would move a lot more smoothly,
also, if the community could agree on ONE main host/repo for the update program we could just constantly update that one location. Example: A dev uploads a new map, a short description, screen shots into a form, the client side update program downloads the description, screen shots, and offers a way for the user of the program to download and install it. Once that map is updated by the developer, he uploads the update to the same server with the SAME NAME, you don't see kf-farm v1-1 after each update to it do you? The client side program is alerted by daily checks and downloads the updated map/descriptions/screenshots Please throw out ideas.... |

Any chance of getting this map pack updated with, lets say, the latest version of every white listed map? That could be very handy.

The volume of maps released is just too much. I proposed a solution for the community to develop a method (or repository) for maps to update and subscribe servers to, instead of the ol' download copy paste that's taking place.
No one wants to help me write it/provide resources for it/implement it. |

Somebody with a clue about the total size of the current whitelisted maps?

I don't suppose we could pass it off as a google code project? Would there be legal implications with that due to licensing? I just figure that would work - lots of fast reliable hosting space where admins can put new maps as and when they are whitelisted.

To be fair you could only really put FINAL maps on there since betas NEED to have version numbers.
Not only that but you can't keep just the map name without any changes or revision numbers on it otherwise people won't know if its the latest and when you join a server with a different map but the same name there will be problems. |

The download links are dead. My friend and I have been trying to find a complete pack of the most updated versions of every custom map out there...could someone who has this upload it to filefront or something?

honestly the best thing you could do is go into the final release map forum and go into each thread, view the screenshots and people's comments, and decide which ones to download. Put half an hour into it and you could have dozens of decent maps. Btw the best ones are typically in that forum, a lot of the rubbish ones never get posted there
An even faster way would be to go into the white listing thread, go to last post, and work backwards. That will ensure you get the latest versions. |
