Default Dropping weapons - only for certian weapons

One unique feature about RO was that if you were shot in the hand, you would drop your weapon. However, how realistic is this? I am pretty sure all rifles and SMGs were issued with slings that were wore in combat to prevent this from happening.

So I was thinking that you could only drop certian weapons on the ground. These would be weapons without slings, such as pistols and grenades.

If you get shot in the hand while holding a rifle, maybe we can make it so that the player drops their rifle, but it does not fall off their body because of the sling. They simply have to reselect it to bring it back up/use it.

Does anyone agree?

I think rifle slings were mostly used for carrying a rifle in non combat situations. I doubt that you could wear a sling and fire unless you held the sling to steady your shot?

Yeah, the slings on WWII weapons weren't three-point slings that you see on modern soliders. They were two point slings, which basically are just straps that you can use to throw the weapon over your shoulder or sling it across your back. They can be used to steady your aim also, but if you drop the weapon it's still falling to the ground.

I am sure if you were shot in the hand with a rifle, the pain would be so horrible you would probably drop it. So I'm sure it's realistic.

yep, I believe slings were not common in combar situations, they would just annoy you while operating your weapon

One thing I'd like to see is that when you get your weapon shot it doesn't drop your ammo too, that makes no sense.

I mean dropping the weapon, ok, but your ammo shouldn't spring from your body for no reason.
