Below I have attatched a picture of what ports I have forwarded on my router for Killing Floor according to the guides here.
That's a lot of ports, could I get the same effect if I were to combine them like this. KF1 - 7707 to 7717 ( UDP/IP ) KF2 - 20560 to 28852 ( BOTH ) KF3 -8075 to 8075 ( TCP/IP ) or possibly 7707 to 8075 ( Both ) but I don't know if that's leaving to many ports vulnerable or what not. I am still kind of new to this whole thing so sorry if this question is ridiculous. P.S. - If I wanted to run two KF Servers on the same machine would I just make a KillingFloor2.ini and JUST change the WebAdmin and Game Port? Can I use the same Query Ports for both servers at least? this part wasn't clear to me on the guide, sorry. - Thanks Last edited by Killjoi; 06-10-2009 at 06:56 AM. |

I have 3 servers and use +2 between each one, e.g.
Open 7707 ~ 7711 (one at 7707, 7709, 7711) Open 7717 ~ 7721 Open 20560 ~ 20566 Open 28852 ~ 28856 For your Web Admin Interface Open 8075 ~ 8079 I've had no issues with this setup except for the 7717 ~ 7721 settings for GamespyQuery. Occasionally it wants to open up ports beyond the norm so I extend 7721 up to 7725 just so that there's leverage. --------------------------------------------------------------------- If you don't have any issues with being open and used this format you could open these port ranges for 3 servers and decrease/increase accordingly for more/less: 7707 ~ 7721 (allowing the extension) 20560 ~ 28856 8075 ~ 8079 If you increase your second server Game Port to 7709 then you'll need to allow the same +2 increase for everything else in your port settings. The Game Port and Web Admin port are changed manually. The rest are automatic and don't need editing in any files. If you're going to use a unique file set for the second server (including a new KillingFloor.ini) then the GamespyQuery will set automatically. However, iIf you're copy/pasting then this entry needs changing at the bottom of the .ini under [IpDrv.UdpGamespyQuery] or you'll get conflict and the server will typically crash before it's able to properly launch. |

Ok I'll give it a go....
I have another question the big "Lag Spike" at the beginning of a map switch.. wouldn't that effect players in your server if one of the other servers switched maps. My Server is Single Core ( for now ) @ 2.0 Ghz with a full 6 Person Server my CPU peaks at about 20% but like I said that spike will send my CPU to 100% for a second just during the beginning of the map switch. |

Is the server registering 100% CPU use just because it's available and 'nothing else' requires it?
Try running 2 servers to test. You join one that is populated and restart or switch maps in the other. See if the CPU load is hogged by the map changing server or whether their same priority ensures the server you're in is given sufficient CPU usage. You'll soon hear the complaints if that's the case. |
