Beserker at Level 3 without exp?

Hello, Thank you for bringing a wonderful game to us Tripwire. I myself really enjoy building myself up in stats while also enjoying the action and fun the game brings. However, I recently ran into a 'problem' per say. I had joined a room today, (With about 20 player in), when I went to the profile menu to select my perk, for some reason I suddenly had level 3 Beserker with 800K exp along with all the benefits. I had level 0 the moment before, and I was starting to work on it. I thought it may be a feature of the server itself, but once I left I was still level 3. Even on solo, and even on every other game.

This is very frustrating because not only is it destroying the experience I wanted to have, but I do not want to be considered cheating and not be able to choose my perks at all if that could possibly happen. If anyone could tell me why, or relate to this, or even how I could fix it I would appreciate. Thank you for your time everyone.
