When I join a server, sometimes i don't even get that far, it may let me hear the sounds of the game and see people standing motionless, but will disconnect my internet in about a minute.

Happened to me a couple of times. Could be your ping, or the sever's host has ended session or the host's internet has crashed. Unless this is happeing with literally every game you've played in KF, it's not a big problem. Try filtering the broswer, listing lower ping servers first. This has helped me.

I have this same problem as PapaBear when using the server browser. I will get a list of servers, but shortly thereafter my entire internet will go down. I was able to successfully connect to Zetsumei's servers directly through the console, using the open ip
ort command, but the server browser seems to be bad mojo.I am using a Dynex router, connnected to a DSL modem. When the bug hits, I have to turn off both the router and modem to get everything reset, and it has happened every time I tried to use the server browser. |

As an update, if I connect directly to my DSL modem, I am able to use the server browser to connect and play online games fine. With the router connected, though, the server browser still gives the kiss of death to my internet connection, and yes, I have all the listed ports forwarded. My router is a Dynex Wireless G router; I use Windows Xp Professional as my OS. Attached is a sample log file from Killing Floor when I tried to use the server browser with the router. Let me know if any other data would be helpful in debugging this situation.

Are you playing on a wireless connection?
If you are, or for those users who are, use the connection software that comes with (or is downloadable for) you card / dongle. Hit Ctrl+Shift+Esc to get to task manager, click on the processes tab and find your wireless program, right click it, click set priority and set it to highest. It's basically an issue with the software scanning different channels on wireless, as it scans it essentially "forgets" to keep you connected. If there is a program taking up a considerable amount of CPU cycles, it doesn't have time to check back on the connection. If your software has an option to disable scanning, that helps. There may be a similar fix for a direct ethernet connection with some connection management software. Last edited by RobDollar; 05-20-2009 at 08:41 PM. |

No, I don't use the wireless part of my router when playing on my PC. The connection from my PC to the router was through a cat 5 cable.
