So, I can host a local server but I open up my friends list on Steam and the option to invite people to my game is grayed out or completely non-existent. Getting them to join via the server browser doesn't seem to work either since it appears to be behaving incredibly erratically at present and doesn't list my servers so that a friend can find them by name.
Can someone tell me how I can brings friends into my local game? How can I find out my server's IP address so I can get them to join directly even ?

Check your current ip address here:
http://checkip.dyndns.org/ To get your friends to join you via ip address they need to: 1) Go to the server browser and right click. 2) Select Open IP and enter your server ip address in there. If you have more than one server then they'll need your port number as well. Alternatively. 1) Hit the ~ key to bring down the console and type open followed by the ip address and port number: Code:
open XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:7707 Last edited by arramus; 05-15-2009 at 12:07 PM. |

Thanks very much for the help.
I'll have a go at this later on.

Just wanted to say, port forwarding aside, this isn't guaranteed to work.
