Default I think that VAVLe are crappin themselfs

Dont you think that it is a bit of a coisnadance that VAVLe decide to relesese a free friday of L4D and THEN EXTEND IT AND MAKE IT CHEAP only WEEKS from the relese of KF

I think that they are worried that buissnis is gonna be cut a bit with KF as a competitor.

Just look at how similer KF and L4D prices are atm

What are your thorghts?

My thoughts are... "don't be daft"

Valve know, just as well as we do, that there is room on the market for 2 (TWO) zombie games. L4D is sitting at #1 right now, we are sitting at #2. When the current L4D sale ends, we might even overhaul them (BUY BUY).

How do I think Valve feels about this? They love it: they are selling a LOT of L4D, then we sell (pleaseplease) a LOT of KF. Through Steam. Where Valve take a cut - and we are (again) a great advertisment for Steam. Everyone wins.

And Valve aren't pooing themselves. When we have had 8 mutli-million-selling titles in a row, they might begin to see us as direct competition. But right now? Nah

Wonder when Capcom will get into the idea and release an online Resident Evil game that isn't console based.

If that happens again they better lose the stupid fast zombies and to much action. I want RE to be scary again with me worried about my dwindling ammo supply not an action game with nonstop shooting.

I don't think Valve has to worry so much about the competition between these two games. Valve has a lot of money, as well as advertisement power on their own program, but the biggest factor is these games really don't compete with each other directly. I doubt there will be many people choosing between Left 4 Dead and this game.. if they really like zombie games, they would get both. As they should, zombie games rock!

Agreed. It was also extended like the UT3 free trial, due to the Steam servers.

Valve has always been amazing to their customers. Valve doesn't feel threatened. :P

My thoughts are you need to check your grammar before posting.

I really don't think Valve are scared of any game. Lets face it, they rake it in as they have some of the most successful titles ever released.

YouTube - Plants vs Zombies Music Video (which, unlike KF, is a *zombie* game )

Well the statement is true to a degree. As far as large companies go, they are one of the best for the community. It's hard to get to a personal level with such a large company.. but they sure as hell beat Ubisoft, EA, etc.

L4D and KF are two different games. I spent yesterday and this morning having a blast with the free L4D. I'll probobly end up buying L4D and KF, they're both a blast. (Assuming KF is as good as the mod...*fingers crossed*

L4D = Fast paced, some survival elements with primary weapon ammo conservation, nade selection and medical supply conservation. Some strategy, especially on Survival.

KF = Slow paced, lots of survival elements with lots of ammo conservation especially due to money component, little medical supply conservation due to recharging syringe. Lots of strategy.

Valve has been keeping KF at the #1 position of the advertised games for the past few days..

Keep refreshing the page. You'll see the #2-#4 spots always change, but KF is always there on the first box.

So either valve or nice, or TWi pays for this.

If Valve felt threatened by KF, Steamworks would have never agreed to put the game on Steam. Valve and Steam are living up to what they promised a long time ago....they're finally making it easier to publish and distribute games, for cheaper. (Unless Valve makes it....then they'll charge you $50 like they did with L4D). Which is why we get to see KF with actual money put into it. By the pre-order numbers alone, I'm guessing KF might have already come close to paying for it's own development.

I'm sure the development costs are also a bit lower since Tripwire didn't build the game from scratch...it's based off a mod.
