Default Clan Questions

Greetings.
I am new to this whole FPS thing. (amazing, right?) I have always been a huge ww2 history buff, and religiously play and enjoy both Korsun Pocket and Steel Panthers Generals Edition (two of the best ww2 games ever made) for their unrivaled attention to detail, historical realism and combined arms.

After playing war simulation games from the divisional level up, it is refreshing to be a grunt with a rifle.

I have been playing RO for a few months. At first I was amazed and delighted by the feel of this game. Ro has an amazing ability to make me want to crawl into my own helmet when under fire. I have actually on several occasions caught myself leaning slightly in my chair when looking around corners.

While I am still captivated by the beautifull maps and relative realism of the actual game engine, I feel that the true beauty of recreating the enviroment these brave people struggled and fought through, is the opprotunity to recreate the coordinated and delicate responses to the problems the faced.

In the public matches I have been in, if I am lucky, there will be two ppl or more with headsets who know what is going on. If I am luckier still, they arent immature racists. And in the best cases, the majority of the players will actually listen and respond to them. I think if I am to continue to play this game I need to explore the teamwork aspect of combat.

That being said, I am not after all is said and done, very good at shooting people. I am prone to miss... alot.
So my question is as follows:
Are there any clans/clubs/servers that play organized matches that don't take it so seriously as to exclude the novice/horrible players?

thanks,
Easy

Well RO has a pretty nice realism community that actually has a giant campaign going on right now. If your interested in joining one of these units I can give you some links, you could always join mine (3rd Yugoslav Army)

Hello Easy Rider, it's good to see someone with an interest in wargaming, especially those from Matrix; I would spend hours playing Steel Panthers. Anyway, Red Orchestra has a variety of clans and realism units that can help you enjoy the game even further. Our Allied combined arms realism unit, the 1st Guards Mechanized Brigade, is always looking for additional men, whether new or skilled. Everyone is accepted as a fellow compatriot. We try to utilize Red Orchestra to it's maximum tactical capability, while also striving to simply enjoy the game. To find out more information, please visit our website here. As Mr. Petrov mentioned, there is a realism campaign going on between the realism units, where most of our action takes place.

Additionally, Red Orchestra also has a competitive clan community, who participate in various clan ladders and tournaments. If that is your style of play, a further search of the forums will lead you to your destination. If you're a North American player interested in that style of clan, you can also look at this thread.

If you are looking for teamwork and comradeship then you will find it by the wheelbarrow load in the second 2.SS-Panzergrenadier-Division “Das Reich” however we are a little more involved than a normal clan and you should bear that in mind. If you are looking for more casual gaming then we might not be the best option for you. However if you are willing to learn and better yourself then this is the place.

If you are interested in realism but you do not like our portrayal or are just generally more interested by a soviet portrayal then I would highly recommend the 1st Guards Mechanised Brigade. They are a die hard bunch and nice chaps as well...

Welcome to RO and the realism community. I think that you will find that the realism units here in RO are for the most part mature ( at the same time into having fun ) and willing to accept players of all levels as long as they are dedicated to the realism concept. I also echo the above statements of Hoffman and my fellow realism participates. I encourage you to check out the current realism campaign Theater Of Conflict ( TOC ) at their forum - http://theatreofconflict.forumotion.com/portal.htm

Good luck and again welcome to the RO realism community
