Default Help Please!

Hi guys! I am pretty new to mapping/modding, and I have a few newbie questions to help get me started. The tutorial didn't really answer these. Here they are:

1.How do I put the sky in? Is it just there when you go outside or what?
2.How do I ground to actually walk on, not just a brick floor like in tutorial?
3.How do I make it so you can walk from inside a building to outside in open ground? How do I make doors and stuff?
4.I heard 3ds Max is a good program to use for creating custom objects for the editor. Is it? How much does 3ds Max cost?

Any help is greatly appreciated, I am having so much trouble getting started with this monster, but I am really interested to see how it works. THANKS!

First answer: http://www.hazelwhorley.com/tutorials/skyboxes.html

For question number two: http://www.angelmapper.com/gamedev/t...s/terrain1.htm

3: Option One look at the map that have the stuff you want to do or option two browse the Unral wiki http://wiki.beyondunreal.com/wiki/

As far as I know there is a free version of Maya (another program to create meshes with) Dunno if there is something like that for 3DSMax, but in general you should first master the SDK and then go on to building your own meshes

Also check out http://3dbuzz.com/vbforum/sv_home.php they have tons of video tutorials there it is the best way around to learn of the UnrealEd works you just need to register there.

Good Luck !!!
