Default EA buys Bioware and Pandemic Studios!

http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/11/ea...demic-studios/
I saw this posted ni another forum. Thought there might some interest for it here too.

Sad sad. Bioware made some of my favorite games and if there was a roleplaying game out there that had their name on it it was most likely rocking!
It would be sad if they were turned into a successor-massproducing factory by their new over-lords. Lets hope for the best. Hope always dies last.

A pity. It'll go down like every otehr stusio EA purchased I guess. They finish their products they are working on, then the team gets fired, a soulless successor is made still using the brand name and then even the name will be ditched. Happened to Origin, Bullfrog and Westwood to name a few.

Sad to see these well respected and established gaming developers are willing to compromise all their respect and work.

Not that Dark Alliance was any better than an EA version of it...

First I'll say, I refuse to buy any games made by EA.

..but I think this is a move to bring themselves out of the creative stagnancy that they've suffered from for the last several years. It wouldnt make sense for them to suck these companies up then neuter them straight off. I think it's an attempt to bring in fresh ideas and titles, then, down the road, hopefully see a resurgence in sales. Hopefully for them anyway. I still won't buy anything made by EA. Homogenization in a creative field is contrary to the point, am I wrong? Oh wait, big business, yeah, they have different goals .

haha, I doubt EA seeks fresh ideas per se, they just seek new seams to generate more cash (like a coal miner). EA are like a guy who buys art not because he likes it but because it's an investment to make money from. They are souless beancounters IMO.

Yes, they are into business, not into gameing.
Managers "making" games.

Btw. it's not EA's fault, but the companies that sold themselves out in the first place. You can't bet that only the "good" guys will buy you.

Exactly. Hey that should be their new slogan. "We're into business not gaming"/ Managers making games" lol, I laugh because it's sad & true...

Oh god no! Prepare for KotoR 3 being a failure on the level of C&C Generals. EA also cut the production of Renegade short and it hinders what would have been a much better game.

Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they stuck the Bioware team on a Sims expansion pack.

EA is like Kind Midas, everything they touch will make them rich, but kill it in the process..
