[CSN]Zips would've been the name. I can't remember who asked for the help in that server. I know they went first to our flag room thinking the cap zone was there and then they were led the way.

People think it's unfinished? Well of course, it's only a first release, but for a first release it's incredibly complete and mostly bug free. They're compiling a list of known bugs over on their forums and it's hardly any so far. There's a lot of things still missing (mainly animations and normal maps) but considering this was pushed out ahead of schedule to beat TF2 (and thus not have their work be in vain) it's an incredible piece of work.

Just on things like damage etc, all the attributes for damage, health, etc are estimated. They had no way of knowing what the old ones were, so they took a "best guess". Some features have been made more like the old Quake version rather than TFC too.

I dunno. I like it. I see Xendance (I think it was him) saying it's the most generic game he's ever played, but considering it's a remake of a remake of the original team-based shooter, I don't think it can really be labelled as "generic". I'd also suggest steering clear of TF2, because that's just going to be more of the same.

Well I'll get TF 2 anyway because I'm gonna buy HL 2 Ep 2. TF might have been good when it first got released, but now that just isn't enough. I didn't like the game 7 years ago and I don't like it now.

I thought the original TF for Quake was more fun than the HL port, TFC. But heaven forbid I say that lest I be stoned to death.

It never seemed to get any players online when i checked it out quite a few years ago- but Unreal fortress looked really promising. You had cameras you could place to monitor passageways which i though was a nice touch. I remember thinking how unfortunate it must be to create a mod that no-one was playing.

Regards FF - majority of players ive seen online are really impressed with it. If TF2 plays differently i think FF will remain quite popular for those who want the old feel but would like it looking prettier.

A lot of people would agree with you I think. I couldn't say one way or the other myself though. I only had dialup and a truly ancient PC (even for back then) when the original was "the game to play" so it wasn't an option for me. I did play at some LAN centre though. None of us knew what we were doing, but I still vividly remember the pitched battle we had going on 2Fort.

TFC I played a bit more, but honestly didn't like all that much. I'm not sure why. Might have been the weak weapons, which make perfect sense to me now, but back then I was hardcore DoD and that had pretty high weapon damage.

FF on the other hand is something I'm really enjoying from the start. I don't know why, considering it's everything I hate in a team game, but I think perhaps it's the way that the classes complement each other so well. I also hear that while FF is primarily a TFC clone, they've brought back a lot of the original TF features, so it's more of a mixed bag. Surely that can only be a good thing?

They still haven't added shotgun reloading animations.
