Arrow Brief 2D Animation: Eastern Front from the German Perspective

Hey guys,

As part of a 2D animation class at George Mason University, we were charged with putting together a 2 minute animation using After Effects. I decided to approach this project by creating a First Person animation from the perspective of a German infantryman on the Eastern Front during 1944 and the massive Soviet push during Operation Bagration.

Basically, I did several photo shoots using some of my reproduction German and Soviet equipment and used a mixture of effects to simulate the surreal experience of being on a battlefield. I also had my first experience with sound, and with the help of a few of my colleagues, put together a soundtrack using many sounds from Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45.

I hope you enjoy, and I do plan on creating more 2-4 minute animations, probably hand drawn as opposed to photographic just to try something new.

Thank you,
George

Come on Polygon, cough it up. What this really is was a secret preview for RO 2.0, right? Nice photorealism. That UE 3.0 is really sweet!!!!

No, really, nice work work here. Completely immersive in a psychedelic sort of way. Can't wait to see future pieces!

I'm thinking of possibly doing a 3 part zombie animation somewhere along the lines of 28 Weeks Later. I'll keep you all posted!
