Funny, that article mentions Jason Statham- who was the actor I'd always thought of for the role. Must have been blatent then - would fans of the series have been happy with him?
He's done voice work for at least a couple of shooters i've played anyway.

I don't hate him as such...he's just only got 2 acts. Quiet muscular fellow (Pitch Black) or Loud muscular fellow (xXx).
Certainly not the type of fellow you'd have to play a character like 47.

I think he would fit for Codename 47. 47 is a very muscular dude with incredible strength due to him being the finest clone. Diesel is the muscle guy as you said and is already bald and can be quiet convincing in being the bad guy.

Hitman (was supposed to be, and was originally) a scrawny fellow. Strong buy scrawny. A wirey kind of muscular as opposed to butch, butch hitmen are stupid looking.

maybe but in Hitman Contracts where you revisit Hitman's first assignements, in the cutscene where the french doctor grabs him to lay him on the table to heal him, you can clearly see and hear that 47 is definitely not a scrawny fella but a heavy very muscular dude

Edit: so yeah Vin Diesel would fit. Too bad he didn't make the cut for the movie

David Bateson would be so good for the part, he is agent 47 (he does the voice ingame and i believe they modelled ingame 47 after him too)

Jason Statham looks the part but it isn't 47 without his voice.

Yeah, just get him to do it. He's the voice and the original character concept is based on him for Christ sake.

Vin Diesel would be ****ing awful, only decent roles he's played were Pitch Black (required little to no acting) and Saving Private Ryan (dead in first half hour anyway).

Yeah 47 is supposed to be strong, but he's by no means a walking tank.

This is why I said originally. In contracts you can see he's been beefed.

Big muscular hitman is a stupid idea. Outside the black suit (and the barcode on his head) he shouldn't have any features you can pick up from a mile away. Seriously how conspicuous does a 6ft tall man with shoulders as wide as he is tall look in Hitmans clothes?
