Default painting decolayer

hi. i used the ut2004 video tutorial and am trying to paint a deco layer with sdk without success. according to the video, i CREATED A DECO LAYER USING A SHRUB FROM VEGETATION SM. I CREATED A NEW LAYER, MOVED IT TO THE TOP, AND SET ALPHA FILL TO BLACK. I SET UP A TEXTURE OF BRICKS BECAUSE IT SAID ON THE VIDEO ANY TEXTURE WOULD DO. I THEN WENT TO BINOCULAR ICON, PULLED UP TERRAIN INFO 0, AND MADE SETTING IN FADOUT/RADIUS MIN 4000/MAX 6000. I WENT BACK TO LAYER, HIGHLIGHTED THE DECO, AND BEGAN PAINTING AND NO SHRUB APPEARED. ANY SUGGESTIONS? IN THE VIDEO, HE PULLED UP IN THE TEXTURE DIALOGUE HIS MY LEVEL PACKAGE. WHEN I TRIED TO DO IT, THE WHOLE SDK SAID THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND EXITED THE PROGRAM ALTOGETHER. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. SINCERELY, =OF=JOE1013.
