I remember playing that map in the mod that used it and thought it was really cool, the reload time didn't really bother me too much.

The Nagant can be given teamkiller as punishment.
Those who got on front tried to get rid of it in the different ways. Nagant was much in in parts arrived with the Far East and Siberia (from them took away
ТТ and gave to a field army), cadets of military schools, divisions narodnogo oplchenia, rear and auxiliary, parts of NKVD (except for frontier guards) . If to make a map on known events where these divisions then players need to be given revolvers participated.
For example:
The first fights in Stalingrad ,
in city only parts NKVD, a summary battalion of militia and a part of air defence .Nagants only .

I don't think it was used on the Eastern front, but correct me if I'm wrong

I think we've discussed it many, many times here. Only 8,000 or so were issued and only a fraction of those on the Eastern Front.

In a more general sense, I don't think it is all that great a weapon, although the design did include some important innovations.

Given specifically to Fallschirmjagers, small production numbers and the fact that they didn't see much action of the Ostfront. Their are better things to model and insert into the game.

They were impossible to shoot straight with. Yes, the bipod-scope-bayonet FG-42 in DoD may have been slightly amusing, but even in semi-automatic fire mode it was just a beast to control. It just wasn't *that* good at all. Many prefered the MP-44.

Hitler was against assault rifles. The ones that made it on the battlefield were against his wishes.

Heh, you shouldn't beat up on him too much.

From what I've read on the 1944 D-Day site, it seems like it's going to be an awesome game.

Its a nice weapon and I loved it in DOD though its limited numbers mean it shuld take a back seat untill more comen weapons are intoduced.

We already have the PTRD, I think you mean the PTRS anti-tank rifle.

If you did that, then the Germans should have their own anti-tank rifle (forgot the name of it) or have the Panzerfaust to balance it.

I do agree about having the Nagant revolver so the Russians have two pistols like the Germans do.

For the 9mm chambered PPSh, it's not really necessary, as a German could pick up a PPSh off of the ground from a dead Russian soldier anyways.

Mappers can already give the Germans captured PTRDs and PPshs (or any other weapon) by changing the initial loadouts, so its not necessary to make a special captured version.
