Default IMPROVED SCORE-BOARD for destroying Tanks! VOTE!!!



I just thought a very useful addition would be to see on the scoreboard how many tanks you have destroyed.
Our current system shares the points for the whole tank-crew if the gunner scores a hit. This system is fair and ok, but at the end you cant tell who is a good gunner and who“s not. If I drive for someone I want to be sure he can score a hit on enemy tanks!

The scoreboard would show points as usual but also how many enemy armour you destroyed.

So after a while when you look at the scoreboard you would see who is a good gunner. So I think the gunner should get an icon for every destroyed tank. The points still get shared for the tank-crew, but only the gunner gets the cross/star icon.
(a small icon for 1 destroyed tank, a large icon for every 5 tanks)

So its easy for you as a driver to pick a player who can handle the main-gun.

Another benefit could be that if the enemy crew bails out seconds before you kill their tank you could still get the icon-star (better than nothing). Another idea could be that you get "half-a-star/cross" for a damaged tank. (2 damaged tanks count as 1 destroyed tank)

This would especially reward Satchler/PTRD/Pzfaust soldiers if they risk their life to damage a tank (yellow or red condition?) but could not finally destroy it...

except for maybe people will start ignoring other players who arent aces at the main gun, wich will lead to more solo tanking = less effective, and its less fun for the persons left alone. and i dont think that that way will have anyone progressing in their skills of gunning a tank...

not meaning to take down this idea, not at all, but thats just something that sprang to my mind reading this

Yes I had a similar idea but one which will be impossible to implement! Basically you get a tank ace stripe for every 50 or hundred tanks killed in-game.

Basically with the help of some global stat thing like in BF, your tank would automatically get the stripes added, or the russian equivelant, when you jump in!! But there were many other issues, like what happens when you share a tank with a fellow tank ace. Maybe combine the totals to determine the stripes? Hmmm...

But anyways good idea!!

That system gives credit for maybe 10 tank kills? I don't know about you, but on an average round of Arad....my tank crew usually kills quite a few more than that allows room for.

If you want to know how many tanks were killed, it's best to add an extra numerical column. But how many tanks you killed is irrelevant, getting in the Cap Zone is far more important, that's why you get so many more points for capping.

you didnt read my post proberly. my post is just a sketch.
Ingame it could be done like 1 tankkill is a small icon, and 5 kills are large icon.
So even if you have 30+ kills there would be enough space...

I don't like this idea, all the gunner has to do is shoot an enemy.

The driver must make sure, that the enemy won't kill you angling taking cover etc. The driver must flank the enemy so that the enemy won't show too angled. the driver does more work than the gunner, which just points and clicks and learns some sheats by his hearth. If you add something like this you should add something that shows good drivers by giving them an icon for every round that deflected against him. aaand don't forget the infantry...

You can continue like this, gunners are no way more important than drivers. Making sure you yourself don't die is more important than killing alot of enemies OR SO IT SHOULD ATLEAST BE. In any game that approaches realism.

This. . . idea. . . ROCKS!!

Good job COOL SHADOW!!

I would love to see somthing like this added, it would really help me work with other tank crew members. Most of the time I dont know who to trust and I feel I have to go solo-tanking to get anywhere.

I think this idea will promote more team-tanking than it stops because now people will be able to find out who is actually good at it.

But what about drivers? Does anyone have any ideas or know what we can measure to tell which players are good drivers? Becuase the gunners that are good enough should be able to know which drivers to trust.

I would rather see disabled/killed/penetrated counted for points

penetrate is .25 points, disabled is .5 and killed is 1

Is it counted as a kill if the crew bails?
If so will this lead to people shooting at disabled tanks?
If not won't it piss people off even more if people do bail?

The system as is is fine I think. It's nice that everyone in the tank gets points for a kill. It goes to show that the driver keeping you hull-down and the hull gunner fending off satchel whores are just as important as the commander's main gun.

I think that apart from the tank only maps, the main task of the gunner is to kill infantry with MG and HE shells if he wants to contribute to the victory of his team. This feature would be better suited in a tank simulation game I think.

I think this is a bad idea roughly for the same reason score for kills is a bad idea.

On maps like arad and barashka both teams are supposed to cap to win giving an extra score for kills will make even more people stay back and tank "snipe" instead of capping and winning the map.

Could maybe work on maps like Ogledow for the russian team but even on a map like that it would probably make the russians stay back and "snipe" instead of going into the cap zones defending them.

For me the main goal of the game has never been and will never be to rack up many kills. The main goal is to win the map.

Just my view of it.

I quite like the idea in general. More out of personal curiosity than anything, to see who is actually getting the points from caps or kills. And I think the "icons" should be added to all members of a tank crew no matter who shoots the gun. Successful kills with Team Tanking should provide recognition for all. A skilled driver is a huge asset, and I wouldnt want any to be discouraged from driving because they are not getting the wee medals!

Good suggestion, though, and I would imagine, reasonably straight forward to implement.

I think that this is a nice idea. Add a star to each crew member if all enemy vehicle's crew is dead. Maybe add a poll?
