There are several reasons and we will not be going into them at this time. What is so bad about it anyway. I rather like it.

Speaking in terms of the aesthetics of this design, I feel it's a bit too generic and "passive" in the sense of just two cropped heads (one is fine like the current design we have, but this should have some diversity). Also, I would absolutely remove any party symbols, and replace them with pertinent Army designs. Perhaps a red star for the Soviet infantryman, and the "balkenkreuz" or iron cross for the lower soldier.

well I hope the design of the box works out for you all. In the end Im sure they designed a box that will catch the eye of a person browsing for a game and interest them in reading more about it.

I know of at least 15 people outside of this forum that will buy the retail version so hopefully they spread the word.

Love your box art Splinter I was totally blown away by it. As much as I don't want to criticise such a great picture, I think it misses the infantry aspect of the game which I'm told is the main aspect, and I think it shows a lack of things German. Don't get the wrong idea that picture is ****ing good man, but a cover has to convey a certain number of things.

Yer thats a great idea. I'd use Splinters for my own, not that I am getting a box (Steam preordered). I guess I could make one with his.

Splinter's box is stunning! Totally gets my vote if Tripwire ever decide to do a console version.

Yes, thats what i would say, and i also think that a german and a russian attack with their army simbols would be better...

Another thing that I'd like to say is about the trailer:

The traeler has many things that shouldn’t be there, like in the beginig of the game shows: 11.(and something...) soviet casualits , after that; Defend you motherland, but the thing that im more sad is about the germans dying, like some rusian die too but in game there images that only russians kill germans making them...You are the evil because you invade our motherland and we are the good because we defended it.... i read in this tread
http://www.redorchestragame.com/foru...ead.php?t=1003 (somewhere here...)
Im not geman but this is a thing that shouldnt be there this is no single player game so why make this , in this tread a guy say that stalin had plans to invade europe anyway so why!! that thing most important is the video (that i know you wont change, but please dont do it again, no all the people in the world like allies an his heroic movies, just disgusting, imagine a game that shows on his videos only marines killing vietcong, this make me very disgust =( yerterday i thought in a text more beautiful than this but when you have to do it you dont remenber some thing, so sorry if some parts you get confused..

In game is first vision when ONLY russians killing german, and the box...that soviet simbol(why dont you put an iron croos if it is a multiplayer game) tha first one are perfect, all black just the RO logo =/ what i want to say is that this game focus too much russians been heros =/ i fell like a crap no game make me happy in this way, like natural selection a mod for hl1: they build a monster bigger than a elephant with 75 (resource.. =s) and has the power to eat (almost instant kill) while fighing, and you are eating tha human you gained life while in full activity and we lost our weapow... just disgusting... i have others things to show but i dont know how to say in english. hope you understand and agree with me, i dont want to bother you but i cant hold this for much long, soon i will post this in some tread =/ =’’’(

I send an e-mail but never got a reply =S, as you could see: im not very good in writing things when im not very happy

To really make the poll correct you should have resized the third party box to the size of the official one...yes it makes a difference.

My thoughts exactly. It's better to compare them on equal footing.
Not that it matters, because the Bold one is here to stay, even if it is losing by quite a bit.

To be perfectly honest, I think the second one is more mystic and I would pick it up-- especially if it was covered in a nice glossy kind of cover thing with a flip over cover, and on the inside pictures of tanks and people with all the features... kind of typical, but would really look nice.

So they're going with the phony fake firing german soldiers and a soviet-ish guy in the top? The second one is winning by a lot in the polls, and for some reasons too. I agree on the point of having both equal size, because you focus more on the biger one, but I still think that the currently bigger one would still be leading if they both were the same size.

P.S.: sorry for the massive signature =)

Poly I agree with you about the double heads, but the Bold Games on isn't perfect either. It looks like a cheaply made game and tells the random buyer nothing about the product. The top and the bottom of the box do not interact, and there is no conflict going on in the picture (a german runing forward ramboing with mp40 doesn't count). The bright red color does not make the game look serious enough.
Evil Hobo's box, on the other hand, has it all. First of all, the picture used is very famous, and anyone who watches TV even occasionaly will know what the game is about. There is a good vs. evil theme that can be interprited both by Russian victory over German invaders, and the Communist occupation of the German people. Finally, the tones really represent the dark and harsh reality of WW2.

My opinion on the issue.

Just for the heck of it, I made 2 more images lol..i really like boxes that give you a nostalgic and dark feeling a game can bring, those boxes always cause me to pick up a game and look what its about..so that is what I went for in the first one, the second one is the same thing, just with the top half of my previous one.

I once wanted to do something with computer graphics, but my parents basically discouraged that so now i am stuck with my current major

The dark nature of it really stirs up the pathos

It does an excellent job of showing the grim reality of the Ostfront, as well as the utter hopelessness of war, i.e. the shattered remains of Berlin in the picture are the only testament to Hitler's plans, while, as Pycckuu says, the Soviet banner being raised forbodes the ushering in of the new Cold War occupation. So all in all, definitely not something that makes you smile or feel happy inside.
Do you realize that that just sent shivers down my spine and cause a large ammount of adrenaline to be released into my bloodstream? That picture is absolutely fascinating (in the sort of bad sense) it really draws attention in a way few pictures do.

EDIT: BTW apple yard, I like those alot, I just like that picture more .
