ost front means eastern front. Red Orchestra was supposedly a soviet spy ring during the war.

Red = Red - the color red.

Orchestra = a group of people who play a type of music

Red Orchestra combined - a soviet spy ring in germany during WWII.

Ostfront - German for Eastern Front

41 - the number 41, close to the answer to Life the universe and everything, standing for 1941 in this case

45 - the number 45, also close to the answer to Life the Universe and Everything, standing for 1945 in this case.

A Red Soviet spy ring have what to do with a Eastern Front tactical FPS game??? I think changing the title to something for that reflect the brutal nature of infantry combat in the Eastern Front and overall, less cryptic, would help the game a lot.

The short answer - years ago the mod was originally going to be a single-player WWII spy game, but changed before release to multiplayer infantry combat. They kept the original name though, since its just awesome.
