A lot of people just don't seem to think he hated them that much. The focal point of his speeches were returning to the drive back east that began 600 years ago. Ironically the Germans had/have a lot of Slavic blood, but oh well.

Of course I'd say a lot of people didn't think he regarded the British originally as allies as well.
