Remember one map in the very old mod with the abbey ruins, seemed to be the one map that was always in play.

Loved that one but cannot recall its name.

did it have a 200km/h sky? then it was Donets (though that was more a general ruin)
If it was set in winter and only had one objective then it was Stanislalovo.

I know there was a custom map called RO-Volga, but it definetely looked different than that one and didn't have those sunken ferry boats in it... that's why I'm asking.

was a winter map with the axis starting in a small baricade area so you had to run up a hill area before you got to the ruin. Def not Volga as there was no water & the only building was the abbey ruin.

ruin was basically 2 rooms with no roof & arches, in one corner was some steps to a locked grate door.

Allied started on other side of map & basically met in middle most action was around the ruin & on the left of it where some sand bags were.

Axis usually stayed to the left where a small wall was at the abbey & the fence went down the left of the map.

think it was around RO mod 1.2 or 2.1 vintage on UT 2003. or possibly 3.1 but that might be pushing it.

Sure I have a CD with all the old RO stuff on in my collection. As it was around the time I was playing Tactical Ops mod on UT2003 before that went to UT2004 & subsequently retail & changed into "Tactical Ops Assualt on Teror".

I was trying to remember two maps today

First one was some snowy one, and one of the flags was a tractor factory or something. I remember lots of window snipers which created lots of ace rifle stalemates, there was a train line on the open part of the map.

All I remember was the tractor factory, a train line, and tall buildings.

Second one was a dark map, the allies started off by a river I think, and there was a Tiger wreckage I think. There was a church point which was damn hard to get, and a sawmill I believe, although it might of been just a generic house. A dark map, but greate fire fights

First one is Spartakovka, which is currently being remade for RO:OST, look in the mapping section.

Second one is Donets.

That should be all of my 'serious' 1.0-1.2 pictures. The rest are of me flying around the map and doing other stupid things in practice mode.

Heh, that first screen there was from that great map that I used to love to play but no one else wanted to. I wanna say it was Karlovka but I'm not sure.

It was RO-Stanislalovo. I have the original UT2003 version if anyone wants to take a crack at porting it. I did the port to UT2k4 but that was way easier than going to OST.

What was that one old map set in winter in a forest, with Germans assaulting a farmhouse and artillery guns? That one was a blast, if a bit frustrating.

Also, you haven't seen old screenies until you've seen the MOHAA mod shots.

And as much as I hate to say it, I miss old Ponyri from 1.0 with NO trenches, just an open field and a house.

Edit: Anyone remember the old PPsH that dominated every other weapon?

Also, hey MP-38, haven't seen you around in a LONG time.

Oh there were trenches, its just they were dug by 12 year olds and had no reinforcement.

Stanis had 2 cap points (unless my memory is failing me). The church, and the little ruin area next to it. Both were a freaking battle till the end for the win. I loved it, a man's map. Kiev was another one of my favorites. Such a struggle to win it, but in the end, you felt like you accomplished something great. lol.

I hope someone jumps on this. If not, I may just have to do it myself (with proper permissions ofcourse),

^ It's ok I've looked into the permissions before. Nobody stepped forward, and the devs say the mapper slipt never to be seen again so I'd say its pretty much public domain by now.

Yeah ditto

I also remember the un winnable Ponyri for the Germans and the hipfest because no one knew how to play besides the testers and devs.
