My suggestion is release the site now! I'm sure it's fine. Just do a simple 8 team starter tournament. I don't think there are too many active clans out now. You need to strike while you still can. A simple tournament will get clans active again and will start new ones. A site is really not important. You just need a working forum and rule set. I'm sure the site is working to become perfect but it doesn't need to be perfect now. Just get the ball rolling. And I wouldn't take any of this criticism by other people personally. Everyone knows your working hard, everyone is just getting frustrated because its taking a some time. Just my 2 cents

This kinda escalated pretty quick, and sorry for the staffs if you took it the wrong way...
It wasnt a sarcastic comment i posted, it was more of an fact... This ladder has taken too long time to fix, and you kinda missed the whole competitive scene. Roladder.net was the perfect way for those who played it seriously, but somehow they were left aside, and then it felt like the whole community died! Scorched Earth? Well, do you really want to play an tournament where money is involved and you still cant record? I mean there was huge bunch of bugs that should've been fixed BEFORE the release... I really hope that you can get the ladder, but it will be a long way to walk until you got an big community with 6v6 or 8v8 games with "hardcore gamers" |

After all we are not denying problems in the past but they are in the past and for many of those involved in the new ladder site they are things that they were not involved with or had any particpation in. We have a good bunch of guys involved who all have the same goal and are simply trying to bring in a competitive future for RO2 and RS and other games that TWI may want to include in this site in the future. Its taken time (something we never had a luxury of) and been a frustrating and at times difficult road but considering what we are trying to acheive in scope I suppose that was always going to be the case and as a consequence we hope we have built something that will have a long term future for our community rather than a quick fix. As I stated previously ROL were a big pair of shoes to fill and we hope that TWL will eventually grow into them. There will be an announcement within the next week or so to the whole community about TWIL.

I think that the fact TWI Ladder is supposed to be an official site means that they don't quite have the same leeway when it comes to releasing a temporary skeleton site (something along the lines of Zetsumei's suggested excel spreadsheet on a very basic page). Perhaps they are a little wary of being stung like they were with the RO2 launch, since they're a 'proper' company now and not a mod-team. They probably expect that people will have the (perfectly valid) expectation to release finished products instead of very basic stuff with the bulk of development coming afterwards.
Having said all of that, the ladder has still been far too slow to get up and running to the point where they may have missed the boat for RO2. I suppose it will depend on what TWI release in future (presumably KF2 or something similar will be next in line). |

My point is more that even if you think its perfect when you release, its pretty much a public beta anyway the first few months as things never go as you expect it.
If there are say 3 months left till official release, it might be better to have the real public beta part over as well. People don't like things being unfinished when they are touted as finished, but if a big text states public beta or something like that. Then the competitive guys can start somewhat playing, together with the actual community rules that in the end don't work out can be adjusted, and a bigger relation with the community can be made on what really needs to be fixed, in which priority. As long as the clans participating now its a beta version it might be good. Betas are a good excuse for unfinished content, if clans start feeling involved with the ladder then there is a bigger chance of a true community being more affiniated with the twi ladder as well. No matter how small the current clans that still play will form the core around which everything gets created.

Just give us something. Its March 1st. Soon spring will be in the air and servers will be empty. Something is better then nothing.

Reminds me of the php-nuke designs from 2000's.
