Why does the G41 sound lower pitched than K98?

In RO2 the g41 has a very distinct bassy sound to it that can be heard across the map. The K98 sounds more like a higher pitched crack without any bass sound to it. Just curious why it sounds like that? They both shoot the same ammo??

Because it's a game and there needs to be a little distinciton between weapon sounds. That and the firing mechanisms are different. :>

because the g41 uses gas at the muzzle in a "bang cone" to cycle the action.
k98 has nothing at the muzzle.

The two sound almost exactly the same . Oddly enough the game doesn't sound like either to me. But for gameplay purposes I think they are ok.

The G41 sound is spot on in RO2.
