Default Smaller maps

Why are there no close quarter fun or normal maps.
I really liked dod orange maps, the game has such good shooter mechanics why waste them to camp invisible enemies that are far away ? (not that I dont like it)

and its great, except for the fact that the Axis bots can shoot you from behind and through the trees from their first spawn, and because you can't see them you can't shoot back. I guess that's the tradeoff when the map is small.

I don't want to be rude,
but "close quarters fun maps" balong to CoD.
That's what I think.
The long ranges are one of the things I really like in Red Orchestra 2.
And I think there are maps with close quarters.
-> Apartments (which is played mucch too much since the free Steam weekend)
-> Spartanowka (average fighting range as assault are 0-30metres on this map)
And whenever you are in a building.

Red Orchestra is just not such a game like CoD where you can run and run and run
although you are hit and everything is fine after some seconds.
The fact that you die very fast and that the times until spawn are sometimes quite long makes sure that players play much more carefully.

tl:dr
Close quarter exists but Red Orchestra is not mainly a CQB Game.
People are not camping in 99,99% of the cases they just play carefully.

A pity many attackers play carefully lately. They lay back try to shoot enemies
while moving 20 steps forward would bring them in the capzone or other usefull position.

I am sure in wars they fought close quarters as well. Though game play is a much more important issue.

I would love some DoD maps (would be fun in Action mode). I tried my hand at the SDK, but I don't have enough RAM to prevent it from crashing.

Some of the new guys play like this while others rush like it is CoD, but both "tactics" are not efficient.

The big part that remains still plays with Squadleader, smoke and clearing grenades.
So if some people stay behind a corner and wait for about a minute it is normally just because they wait for a grenade to explode, teammates or because they heard voices.
