Default Game crashes and won't close from task manager

Hi, I had a problem when RO2 was in beta/just released. It was that the game would crash completely, and not end. Not even task manager could end it. It still uses up memory, and I have to completely restart my pc to get rid of it.

I completed the story after reinstalling when then GOTY update hit, and then I started it again on Hero mode. Then I started getting this crash again. It's happened twice and I haven't tried the game again since.

I've verified RO2 in Steam and it always says 1 file has to be reacquired. Other than that, I can't think of what's causing this, but would like a solution to it. My crash dump is posted in the sticky if that helps.

My specs are more than enough to run the game so I'm sure it isn't a performance issue though. Cheers for any help you can offer inadvance

Hello,

I've got exactly the same problem as your's. I can launch the game, but I can't join a game, and when I quit, RO2 doesn't stop. Even the task manager is not able to close it.
I uninstalled the game twice, deleted everything, even the files in My Games (Documents), but always the same message : "1 file has to be reacquired"

Could someone help us please ?

some further information is needed, for example operating system, anti virus, firewallmight help. i had a similar problem once, it was caused by comodo internet security. when i wanted to exit the game the screen went black, i couldn't even open the taskmanager.
maybe disabling windows user control for a test might be a good start.

Hi, I don't have UAC control on, and I'm using win7 64 bit. My only antivirus is windows security essentials and same for my firewall, both of which have the game allowed, if that info helps.

This is not a solution to the crash, but it might help with closing ROGame.exe.

Can any of you guys try the SysInternals Process Explorer? It can be downloaded here. It's a bit more advanced that the task manager.

If you open it, then you will see a complete process tree. Lookup ROGame.exe. Right-click on ROGame.exe and select Kill Process Tree..

Omg...I finally found a solution to this issue..........

I used PBSetup, to update Red Orchestra's Punkbuster's files
Then, I deleted the exceptions in my firewall and anti-virus software (Eset Smart Security 5).

When launching Red Orchestra 2, I created a new exception, and no problem. The game runs perfectly...

I hope this message will help
