I would love to see a new gameplay type and a few maps to take advantage of it.
Gameplay - Objective Destruction For example; The Germans are mounting a thrust into Russian territory and are expecting a sizable reinforcement via rail links. The Russians have intercepted a communiqué suggesting the new German troops will have only one option to get into the area and that is using bridge A. Germans in the area must secure bridge A and prevent its destruction before the resupply train arrives; winning the round. Russians must secure bridge A long enough to plant multiple charges at various engineering weak points and take it down before the German resupply train shows up; winning the round. A time limit would be in effect; train arrives after certain time, the defending Russians could still win if the bridge is blown with the train still on it. Think of the drama ![]() I think this kind of scenario or a similar would be stellar with RO2's realism mode. I am not a modder, just an old fart who likes to play the odd game. This is one of the best of those odd games and I think its ripe for some new gameplay challenges. I appreciate any input that may spark a productive discussion. |

I'd like some big maps. Not as big as Operation Flashpoint or ArmA of course, but maybe something like Berezina. Because small maps like Danzig get very stale very quickly! They're so small that it becomes very clear, very fast where the enemy will come from.

The last thing Ro2 needs is a new mode. We need transports and MG42s and maps and general improvements. Though, I'm sure it would be cool if it were implemented.

While new gear is always welcome, I think there is only so many toys they could introduce that would fit the time period. However, new game modes, whether by Tripwire or by modders would be a nice fresh addition. I am sure it is a tall order work wise. One other forum poster mentioned a extremely over-sized German cannon called the Dora could be introduced as it was deployed in the Stalingrad area. Although I believe someone mentioned it was never actually used there. Let's say this is another one of those destroy target maps, where the Russians successfully plant enough charges to destroy the weapon before it even gets a chance to deploy. Again, just thinking out loud as a fan, never mod'ed in my life (no patience or skill).
Cheers! |
