Regarding MGs, could someone tell me what are the pros and cons in DP and MG-34, I don't really see anything better in DP when comparing to the MG-34 except the more open sight.

Edit: And to be able to see the ammo status of the magazine on DP from aiming view.

In this game the Dp28 has no better aspects attributed to it than the mg34.

Its all personal taste, as a learner mger I used the mg34 till i got the beltfed version and now use solely the DP28.

It is loud ,has no singleshot set to a button and its ammo is limited compared to later mg34 versions. It also has a kick like a mule so requires better aim at those long shots.
I tend to use my mg to cover a line of advance whether attacking or defending so I cover approaches to and from the capzone.

Position relative to enemy strong points, enemy movement routes and dynamics of battle. If you can get the feel of the enemy team, what their capabilties are, where they will be, where they spawn etc you can be very effective with the MG.

Map also determines how to use the MG. Some maps I will simply not use the class at all. I use singleshot most of the time, bursts to take out larger groups or if I miss the intial shot. Suppressing the enemy is not as effective as killing them in droves. When think of suppressing the russians I think chiefly of killing so many they don't come back to that position in a hurry, which allows me to move up and gain better fields of fire.

Don't be tempted to be overly mobile unless the team is moving with you. Your job is to take out entrenched and moving targets en masse, while your team goes for the objectives. You can't quickly kill an enemy unless they're in pistol range or you picked up a rifle or SMG.

there's 0 muzzle rise on the DP on higher levels, it'll shoot as straight as a laser.

Sheesh i love to play MG. That and bolt. ( occasionaly SL or TL )

If i can i pick up a rifle just in case. As the op mentioned he feels vulnerable with the MG alone. You whouldent believe how fast you can aquire a rifle in a ongoing battle. I ALLWAYS look out for some spares.

Positioning is rather delicate in ro2. If you going for area denial you NEED TO know how the place looks from your enemy's eye and how it "feels" to be under constant threat of a mg.

Long bursts are usually not helpful and i find myself using single-shot ALOT more than i did with ro1. You can be hidden and the pokpokpok will drive the other team nuts.

Know where they come from and have really good awareness of how the battle goes. In the worst case you find yourself alone with almost no ammo left and enemy's swarming your position. You need to move as long as its relativly save and then set up again because you where clever and now can mow them down as they move in on your former position. Its more of cat and mice with roles switching as the battle goes on.

PLAN your exit routes..i cant stress this enough. ALLWAYS have at least 2 alternative routes // fallback points. This will ensure you KNOW where to go if needed.

On bigger maps i constantly scream for ammo. I know it can be annoying to others but dammit iam making kills iam holding them down, i deny a certain approach and you tell me i should get ammo myself ? I should accidentally shoot your foot for that. ( really puzzles me and you wont belive how often you get a stupid, uninformed, closeminded reply like that. In the most extreme i have to suicide to get new ammo because its faster than walking back and forth to the resupply point ) PLEASE ALLWAYS give your mg folks ammo when you pass by. They need it and quite frankly, save you AND the team alot of hassle. Its of no use if the mg has to give up a perfect spot just to be able to do what it does.

Yes! Even with DP-28 this is easily done and helps to prevent detection. There is nothing easier to spot even at great ranges than an MG blasting away with constant muzzle flashes.

Imo, on most maps you should be combining all 3 MG roles. Take CH for example as an attacking MG you should setup quickly and try to pick off germans coming into A on the right or left side of the house, then run forward and get on the cap to give your team extra capping power. At this point use your MG to shoot through the walls into corners where germans commonly hide. When the cap is taken you want to take a position and start suppressing B, C or D heavily, to prevent your teammates from getting snipe off/kill reinforcing germans walking into your fire alley. If your team gets B and D, you should get on the cap to take C as this is basically the hardest cap on the map to take quickly and if you do it all but ensures a win. On C use the MG to penetrate through walls and get kills or setup in one of the 2 hallways on any floor to cutoff reinforcements/suppress the hallway so they don't dare peak out. E is pretty much the same as C and you go back to more of a suppression/alley of fire for the later caps.

MGers and marksmen getting on points once you have a foothold can be the key to victory on a lot of maps since it gives you a numbers advantage. At the same time letting your teammates run into vulnerable positions with no covering/suppressing fire is going to get you all killed if you go rambo with them. You need utilize all roles as the situation calls for.

I've got both at lvl 50 and there is very little advantage to the DP except the less up and down recoil at higher levels. Another advantage is that since 80% of mgers use lmg 34, no Russian will ever double check that DP-28 fire coming from behind them is in fact a Russian. Use this knowledge to devastating effect by picking it as a german MGer and flanking behind your enemy to kill them.
