Honestly, SweetFX is fantastic.
There is a hotkey to toggle the effects on/off...Once you played with SweetFX you never want to play without it!

SweetFX is definitely not a hack, it should be added as default or at least a option.

In this way people playing with settings at low or medium are the real "hacker" because they've a big advantage. ( Sure they're no cheaters for this!)

I wouldn't call SweetFX a cheat or exploit either. It's just a screen pimp tool. It does only manipulate that what is rendered on the screen by the game itself. It doesn't add or remove objects.

What's the advantage of medium?

Oh, I'm not saying I didn't wish my game looks that way -- it looks beautiful, but you are using outside-game methods to achieve it. Yes, I wish it WAS an in-game option.

I would. It removes fog quite easily.

Yes, and I'm glad that things are being done to fix that, at least for competition -- the difference between low settings and ultra is also quite an exploit.

Didn't know that. It that is indeed the case, then it's an exploit. I tried it once, but I removed it from my system simply because now VAC and PB do allow it, but we never know what they think about it the next day.

I know the difference is huge, but don't forget that most of them are cosmetic differences. There are however some UI settings like foliage that definitely do give an advantage if set at low. Others do not. Some will even work against you if set at low. It's not that black and white.

Yeah, the fog is the biggest issue I have with it, and I agree.

Yes, the biggest issue with this as well is the removal of foliage. However, as of late, from the mappers I've talked to -- they are becoming more cognizant of this and are taking steps so that graphics settings do not remove fundamental aspects of their maps, such as foliage, etc.

If you play on LOW settings as myself ( more due to the game itself than my machine ) you dont even realize that there is grass or foliage at parts.

Its just how it is.

The whole discussion is moot. Is playing on a 42" monitor at 3840x2160 resolution an exploit? It certainly gives you an advantage. As does cranking up the contrast, adjusting FOV etc.
I use injectors wherever the ingame settings don't give me the desidered result. Not for p0wning n00bs, but for better AA and such.

The discussion is not moot with regard to competition and competitive players -- which may be all too germane, given Yoshiro's latest comments regarding the prospect of TWIL launching soon.

Otherwise, yes you are right.

I would think someone going through the trouble of using an injector could surf a forum menu, but perhaps I am wrong.

SweetFX itself may be relatively harmless, but the vector that it's using has the potential for severe cheating. It's not limited to visual aids; the same basic approach is how some otherwise-undetectable trigger-puller aimbots function, for example.

This is why we can't have nice things.

OMG, what that man said. (He's correct.)

I haven't used it myself but its suppose to improve the image of the game. It is universal and works with many games.

However, with online competitive games like RO2 it may be a bad thing like TraXx mentioned. By taking away fog and making long distance more clear (I guess it uses some method to sharpen your image) would give some people an advantage.

Here you can see the background is clearer and building behind the dust particles underneath the lamp is clearer. Well, everything is clearer!

I think someone should do a comparison in Red Orchestra 2 for people to see, especially in maps that uses a lot of long distance fighting and foggy maps like Winterwald.
