Hey guys.
I've been working on this map for 2.5 week now and done all the graphics myself (apart from the skybox, water and particles). Since this was a school assigment I'm "done" with it but I will need to test it and tweak it to make it fun to play. Hope u guys like it and for those who are intrested there are picture of the process here: http://www.worldofleveldesign.net/fo...-student/page2 and a video here: UDK (RO2 SDK) level design project - West Harbor - YouTube |

This certainly looks like it could be interesting. What happens if you fall in the water?

You should place a transparent mesh underneath the water to simulate swimming. Then you should create a map boundary for the water to simulate how long you can stay in the water. It would be funny to see people explode after 10 seconds of being in the water. Otherwise you can place blocking volumes everywhere.

Looks good! May I ask what kind of project you have?
It looks great for some small contained firefights though! Can't wait to try it because those custom buildings looks sweet.

Thanks ![]() Real-life Scene to In-game Level Description: In this assignment we were to create a playable level based upon a real-life, fairly known, local place, multi- or single-player. Lighting, theme and mood plays a great role in this assignment. The map countains 2, 3 sniper locations but also close quarter areas to mix things up. The fog and darkness works well to make it more dynamic. It's easier to get a kill up close but you can still take a shot at range. Migmadmarine: Falling into the water kills you but this is pretty hard to actually do. I could add the function to swim and add ladders if this adds to the gameplay but I need to test it first. I could add the map here for beta-testing on monday. I really want to do alot of changes (especially on graphics and lights) but I would rather test it first to see what you guys think

Do you generally work with the Unreal Engine in that class? Why did you choose to make it for RO2, and what games did other students generally work with?

I was walking around and pretty much thought "this would be an awesome location for RO2", started taking photos and went from there. We usually choose between unity, udk and cryengine but when we make games we use our own engines that our programmers build. So we work with game projects 50% and 50% level design (which includes classes, analysis, 3d modelling, UDK etc etc). |
