TraXx started a thread on this topic in the "ideas and suggestions" forum back in September...

its a great tool to figure out who a SL, TL, or MG is. Used it all the time in RO1 and its mods.

Hope it won't take too much time & effort to implement RO1 style info screen with the easy to look-up player role

At any rate, I spoke to Yoshiro about this at that time and he told me that while people miss the class information, that the current system was implemented to serve a wider range of people, including those still playing on 4:3 ratio monitors.

While I laugh a little bit at that given the hardware required to run this game well, I can see his point. Yoshiro asks that if you are serious about this, to post in the ideas forum so that your idea may gain some traction with those who are in a position to do something about it.

A few of us came up with ideas like icons to represent classes, or something like that (smaller fonts, etc.) to get the class information in there and still allow it to render properly at 4:3 ratios, etc.

Best of luck!

The simplest and easiest method, one that wouldn't require new graphics or mess with the displayability of the scoreboard, would be to prefix each name shown there with a few characters, such as "X- " shown before the name, with X being a 1-2 letter abreviation of the class: R, ER, < (Or possibly S), A, EA, MG, AT, E (Possibly Eng), SL, TL.

Or a symbol, such as in the kill feed.

Yup. Definitely miss it, especially when trying to find out who's AFK hogging a precious role.

I remember that during map changes there was some really cool-looking board displaying all classes and people who were on them. It was way better than the current scoreboard where you don't even see roles people are playing but for some reason I don't see it anymore.

That is part of the "Ready-Up" (or lobby) screen before the match, Holy.Death. A server setting that most servers these days don't use. I like it as it shows Squads, Classes and ranks in a nice, clear format. Shame we can't swap the scoreboard for it (with some tweaking of course).

I totally agree, we should see something like a icon next to the name like somebody suggested before me.

I'm all for adding class names and removing kill counts.

+1.

I liked how in Ost how kills contributed to your overall score but it didn't display the actual kills. People were much more motivated to get 10 points from taking a cap than 1 from a kill (However, there was always the problem of 5 from an MG reload - even if he was doing nothing but TKing )

You can still see who is what, in the class selection menu, under the "join squad" tab. Seems like a lot of folks forget that

You can also see who's teamleader and squadleader, if you simply press "T".

I miss the scoreboard roles as well, even class icons could work. Not to mention the native role names. It felt more authentic to me.

Personally I'm not really missing these roles, although it would be at least really helpful for the commander (and probably SLs as well), so that he could give orders directly to specific classes (e.g. AT soldiers). Additionally he'd have a good overview which classes are represented and which are not.

Class icons should be fine.

I miss the roles in the scoreboard, I think the entire scoreboard should be edited.

Combine the team points and kills and display the roles please!
