Default Weapons for mappers.

Some people want an "expanded armory" of weapons in game. I totally agree with that, and think it should be map dependent. However others have said... "just make a mutator". I don't think mutators are the way forwards as they will be rarely played as long as they require the dreaded download of custom content. Said downloads often put players off from playing on a server, despite the obvious benefits of said custom content.

Well then model, animate and script those weapons if you want them.

I could model them if TWI would guarantee if that if they were of sufficient quality, they would be included in the game in a future patch.

Not so sure about the other things.

sorry, I meant to make this thread to address the "hurr durr just make a mutator" people, I had a bunch of stuff comparing actual weapons added in a patch to a mutator that might add a few weapons. That part apparently got deleted.

I don't want to make a weapon mutator that would only be played by a few, take a look at IJC weapon pack in KF, a bunch of really good, whitelisted weapons, but even though it's "very popular" it's only played on about 5% of all servers. Sure some people think it's unbalanced, etc. Same would apply to these weapons. However if they were made TWI official people would have no other option.

Now what kind of constructive post is this ^^^?

If this is how replies in the Ideas and Suggestions board should be, then
  • never ask for new maps, because you can model them.
  • never ask for new tanks, because you can model, animate and script them.
  • never ask for a Luger (or what ever weapon), because you can model, animate and script them.
  • never ask for halftracks, because you can model, animate and script them.
  • ...
Everybody is free to start a thread as long as it's civil and does not conflict with the forum rules.

since your thread "grew legs and is running now", i'll coomment on those weapons. as long as they don't end up any any of the "stock" twi stalingrad maps, i'm fine with them. the m44 is one of my favorite rifles. i'd love to have on with a bayonet folding animation. the panzerfaust is an awesome weapon as well. they were so much fun in ro-ost, it'd be a shame to never have them in ro2. have you spent much time in the modders forums? someone might be working on these weapons now. i rarely go there, because i have no talent for modding and really can't help them any.

hence "weapons for mappers".

I'm not sure if TWI would go along with this though.
