Most of the values I've seen online for the C96 (irl) state 900rpm, which is the same as the ppsh. Which really makes it even more like a pocket ppsh.

That said, the recoil is such that you can't really use it in fully automatic except at very close ranges (unlike the ppsh in that respect). For most confrontations semi-automatic is greatly preferable, since you can hit out to 80 metres or more (potentially much more!). Still, rather handy in a tight spot .

In my experience so far, the semis are more effective than bolt actions from 0 to 130 or so meters when firing at moving crouched or full bodied targets that appear fleetingly.

Beyond that range, bolt actions are better.

When firing at cleverly positioned targets- of which expose only their head and little more, the bolt action is the better choice than the semi at perhaps 120 meters and beyond. 0-120 meters belong to the semi.

However, if one wants to snap shoot inconspicuously, firing a bolt action may save your life vs. a semi, which would automatically signal the enemy's attention. Bolt action shooters are more likely to stay hidden.

That's my view on things.

I'm getting better at the mosin-nagant. I'm at level 26 right now and it's been upgraded and handling better for me. Still, my comfort level is with the K98, but as of now, it's close. My K98 is on level 33 or so.
