But something struck me today, I think my time playing Planetside 2 (which I have about 70 hours in since launch) has helped me in this game. Before those who wish to burn me at the stake, hear me out. While they are very different games, RO2 and PS2, i do think planetside has helped my reaction, and quickness to line up a shot. In Planetside, it the amount of rounds that it takes to kill someone (minimum ~12 chest hits for most weapons), one is required to keep the sights squarely on someone to drop them, and I think that this has translated into RO2 (with it's one-shot kills) as better aim for me. I seemed to be lining up shots much more reliably than I used to, before I got good in planetside. Eh, don't know, just an observation, anyone had some similar experences?

Well obviously, anything that can improve your accuracy and speed - yes even in inferior games! - will benefit your playing in RO2, the pinnacle of the FPS

To me it is usually the opposite. When I started playing Red Orchestra it improved my overall aiming in any other fps because in most fps aiming and hitting is a piece of cake compared to RO.

Playing Chivalry seems to make me charge the enemy head on and bayonet everything.

I'm glad to see it, I was worried about those who see it as sacrilegious to compare RO2 with seemingly lesser games.

I've always found that RO has made me a better shooter in other games.

Slow and tactical shooters have always yielded other rules than fast arcade ones. It is by playing both kinds that you learn to appreciate the skills you learn from each.
Fast and Arcade shooters teach you to be aggressive when needed and improve your reflexes. Slow and Tactical shooters teach you to be patient when needed, and teach you to watch for movements carefully, so in a sense improve precision. Combining those, you get better at aggression in slowpaced games, while patience is often required to maintain control in the faster games. |

That's true about Chivalry, it really does make me wish we could counter/block bayonet charges somehow.

Happens to me. When i play Project Reality, i'm a better shooter there after playing RO2. Also, i remember that after playing Full Spectrum Warrior 1 and 2, i improved my in-field play and movement.

Used to play DoD:s alot, maybe too much, but now it take me and age to adjust to that sort of gameplay style now. I'm not great at this game, but I can defo hold my own in most rounds. Not sure if this game has made me a better player tho
