I played London on HoE today.
When we were to face Patty, one player said that he would do a "trick" to Patty. I didnīt understand what he was talking about and treated that statement as a joke or misunderstanding from his part. The team hurt Patty collectively once so he had to heal himself. The second time around when Patty showed himself, this "trick-to-do-player" ( he was either a zerk or a medic ) walked up to Patty with a katana and started to do something that made me view in disbelief. He continously kept slashing Patty, 1 hit only, with the katana and everytime Patty would swing at him, while this player kept backpeddleing. Patty stood still on the same spot the whole time, while this player kept slashing Patty till Patty was brought to his knees wounded. What was going on here? Are there more "secrets" or "fun mishaps" to KF that we still donīt know about? For example, the first "secret" i read about was when a player could decap a FP with a single shot from a 9 mm or even the knife. Or that a support can altfire axe or katana on a scrake > crouch > altfire hunting to face for an immediate kill. Are we supposed to be able to do these "simplified" kills or are they bugs? I want to know! The most well-known "easy kill" today is using chainsaw on Patty, but to correct this Patty would need to do a 360 degree-swing with an accompanying animation also showing this. I am not sure that would be "realistic". Perhaps he could only manage max 180 degrees with his swinging arm and then be able to hit maybe 3 players at the same time? 360 degrees would be unrealistic? This is the most hilarious scene i have witnessed so far in KF. It made me chuckle in disbelief and then i just had to laugh...LOUDLY...in disbelief!!! Patty was just.....pathetic!!! I've got a good idea who the medic was and if you have a look for a video by DarkFalz you'll see how it's done as I think he was using either a knife or machete as a zerker on the Patriarch on the test map.

Oneshot decapping a FP with a knife or 9mm was an old trick which is no longer usable.
But very fun while it lasted ![]() The shotgun trick is still usable, and IMHO doesn't not make sense from a fluff PoV. After all, if you fire a shotgun vertically downwards through someone's head, it SHOULD deal more damage than just through their torso. The knife vs patty trick is an extension of the way FPs are killed by zerkers on suicidal/HoE (ie. not by gang-banging them). And I think the patty is getting a new radial attack which will prevent players from chainsaw brutalising him so much in the future... (unconfirmed). And as far as I know, with the possible exception of chainsawwing the patty (which is considered by some too easy, although a pretty sure-fire way of getting the achievement), most combos/exploits to kill zeds are generally accepted. |

No, i don't think this is a bug or glitch. All he was doing was backing away from the patriarchs swing, then attacking. Repeating this will lock him in postion(if done correctly) until he has to heal, which even then you can continue to melee lock him. The rest of the team can usually attack him as they normally would without him being affected(his health obviously goes down).

That technique is fairly old school, i mean I still do it mostly against patty in pub games unless the server is wonky, but you don't even have to be zerk for it to work just fyi

![]() Basically, if it's fun to do or seems slightly unrealistic (unlike the entire premise of the game, for example ) then someone, somewhere considers it an exploit that is ruining the game and making PvE much, much too easy. /sarcasmFalz covered all of the key points. I don't even want to get into the whitelisted mutators because that's a whole other migraine just waiting to happen. It just seems weird that, given the frame the player is put in, people get as vocal and passionate as they do. The whole point of the game is to survive against freakish bio-experements. Specimens with chainsaws or meat grinders for arms. Specimens that can cloak. Specimens with no balls but with the guts to slowly walk at you in a straight line. E-honor aside, shouldn't we be utilizing (exploiting) every possible advantage to increase the odds of surviving? The specimens certainly aren't going to cry foul. Hopefully, that teammate you saved by Support-combo-ing that Scrake or Fleshpound isn't going to whine about how he isn't dead because of a glitch/ exploit/ feature that hasn't been fixed since the release of the game. If the entire focus of a class is to run up to things and hit them with a sword, doesn't it make sense that said class runs faster than others? Sure, if the whole team dies and the zerker is forced to kite, it's boring. But I feel like that's...the team's fault...for dying. Sure, fixes are incoming. Balance is incoming. But until it does we should work with what we have. |

but then this brings up the issue of map errors. I dont know about every map, but for EvilSantaLair, suburbia, and wyre, theres simple NAV issues that cause the zeds o just spaz out or stay still. If this game was real life, then heck yeah I would use those things to my advantage. What needs to happen, is that if a certain technique was never intended to be allowed in the game (say the chainsaw jump), then it should be patched. But, if things like the katana being able to stun lock was intended, then it shouldnt be called a cheat/exploit/glitch abuse/etc. but instead be called a tatic

you can melee lock a few different specimens, not just patty. as to whether or not it is an exploit, well i guess that is up to the player.
i personally love melee locking pat, its quite fun, and definitely more difficult than chainsawing ganging him. |
