It wouldnt make sense to make it free. Ro is nearly dead, only a few servers are left.

Precisely, because the game is dead, they should make it free.

Many people bought that game, myself included, and now we can't play it because is dead, I want to be able to play the game I purchased, is that such an absurd demand?.

It wont take me away from HoS, because I'm not playing HoS anyway, but at least would make me look at TWI with good eyes again, and I may consider purchasing future games from them.

I'll be honest, TWI probably shouldn't make it free but keep the cost low.

Now that said, if enough players picked up the game again and started playing, I mean really playing with servers running custom maps like Elnya and Tractorworks and some of the bigger better maps and little to no stock maps, I could move back to ROOST away from ROHOS. Even Carpathian Crosses or the other mods like Mare Nostrum.

Sadly, I doubt that would happen even if more players joined. You would still see mostly servers running stock maps and a couple of overplayed customs, if at all.

DH is trundling happily along with a full US server most globalevenings (from 7pm eurotime to midnight USeastcoast time.

Not a huge base, but you can only play with 63 players at a time anyway.

I just checked - 3 fellows are busy seeding a server on a custom map as I type.

DH itself is great, but some of the servers and some of the player base leave a lot to be desired.

They should released Ostfront with about 60-70% discount. Maybe Ostfront in HD or something. Or a special edition with soundtrack or whatever.

Ostfront is one of the best games of the decade in my opinion and unfortunately there are a lot of people that aren't aware of Ostfronts greatness.

When I play RO I only play RO OST because it is a lot better than RO2.

Graphics are more important than gameplay?

While I would love to see the Ostfront community revived, I don't think it's in tripwire's interest to make the game free. They're spending all this time fixing up/adding content to Red Orchestra 2 to try and build the community, why would they go against all that by encouraging people to play RO1 instead?

I really think making RO1 free in the near future would be a great idea. Hardly anyone plays that game now, apart from a few Russian servers full of bots with a few people apiece. The game is fantastic and I would still be playing it to this day if not for the lack of players. RO2 really killed off the player numbers, as is typical with alot of game sequels, but I really think it's particularly sad in RO1's case.

Looking at it from a business stand point, making RO1 free could be a great way of getting players into RO2, even though the sequel is quite a bit different from its predecessor. If, heaven forbid, an RO3 is made ... well you get the idea.

I loved Ro but no i felt in love with Ro2. Guys just be patient and wait till new real content (Vehicles, Weapons, Maps) is coming. Its not helpfully if TWI would release Roost for Free. Neither for Ro or Ro2. I have stopped playing Ro when the TWB servers werent anymore populated so I moved on to Ro2, and i dont regret this step. I know there are some bugs and some servers run only the overplayed stockmaps, but some Custommaps are real great. I keep the faith that Ro2 turns out greater and better than RoOst was.
