Default (Question) Full 1st person view (body legs and shadow)

(It´s not a HD picture because it was make in the death cam view)

Is anybody working at something like this? It was discussed a lot in the Forum.

It would very nice if we could see our own body in RO2 when we take a look downside, and see our body, legs and of course our own shadow.

Or is it impossible to realize something like that in RO2?

I hope there is some modder outside who is working at something like that, that would be very great.

You can see your body in tanks and I´ve seen my own shadow pop up sometimes (it's not really consistent) so it seems to me that it's possible. I vaguely remember a thread about this where somebody spawned inside someone else's body and also came up with this idea.

Perhaps someone could somehow copy the body awareness thing from the tank crew and modify it in some way that you could see yourself as normal infantry.

not sure if anyone would go through all the time and effort just to do that simple visual thing.

it would require redoing ALL the weapon animations, new bones, new models, 1stp death animations, new code to support 1stp death, lots and lots of stuff to do.

it's a whole lot of work for just one thing.

It wouldn't require that much actually, nowhere near ro_sauce's depiction. What it would require is this:

The 3rd person animation body would have to have its head and arms cut off (possibly shoulders/upper chest too). The result would be a mix of 1st and 3rd person animations, the head has to go for the same reason that it disappears when your player becomes a ragdoll. I can't think of any reason for this not to work, apart from some player holes when you look down at certain angles. Also, the shadows would be pretty funky, as the first person model doesn't cast one. Perhaps if you own shadow was just a simplified approximation (like in Operation Flashpoint, or Arma on low shadows) rather than an actual cast shadow. This would be the toughest point.

Always liked that in ArmAII. Would love to see it in more games.

This always amazed me. In 2012, we have all kinds of mapping, filters, post processing, shadows, liquid simulation. But no legs.
